GR Yaris Toyota UK remap

You would imagine you could flash the file, test drive and reflash different settings until you are happy. That would be the customer based approach.

Dealer approach would be to make you go and give them your car for the whole day so they can enjoy it, reflash 5 minutes before closing and then say tough shit if you don't like it.

f**k the dealer system and their warranty
You forgot, Give it back covered in Shit

This is the reply i received from Toyota GB

Thank you for your email.

Currently the GR Yaris software update is in pilot phase. Once your vehicle becomes eligible for the update your local Toyota Centre will be able to reach out to you directly and advise further steps.

I'm not sure how my vehicle becomes eligible! Oh well maybe one day someone will reach out to me!

Hi all
Yes we are on the pilot and are asking questions before we roll it out
We have the license keys in stock so anyone interested we will start booking shortly
As I understand so far you will have a choice of 4 maps
Rallye
B Road
Race or
Custom
Each will feature a different configuration of
Steering feel accelerator response
And drive train configuration
One flash of the ECU will give you that choice along with the 20nm
Any update on this? All seems to have gone quiet.

I can't get any info either from toyota uk or my toyota dealer, i was in for a service a week ago and they went on their computers to look but found nothing.

Yep, I'm waiting for a 'please come see us' from Richard. I guess they're not quite ready for it to hit the streets/tracks.

My Toyota dealer in Cornwall is applying the Toyota GR upgrade to a customer car as I type.
I have asked for the dealer to call me after the customer has driven it for a couple of days.
Will keep you posted.
Thanks - be great if you can find out about the pricing and if it's flexible.

Per sixtentouge's post earlier, I think I'd be up for the better throttle response and small torque bump if it was, say, £500 or less - but not really interested in tweaking the AWD split and the full price feels like it's going to be a bit much to swallow.

RRP is £995

The Dealer called me today and the reprogramming took about 2 hours. It was the B road map and apparently the person that had it done has said the car is much better to drive and more grunty than the torque figure suggests.
You apparently don’t get a B pillar sticker or certificate, just an invoice to say the GR update has been carried out.
Price is fixed at £995 and the dealer makes less than the labour would cost!
The dealer is asking for the customer to call me if convenient as I am seriously considering it myself.
Keep you posted if I get a call from the person.

2 hrs to flash an ECU?

Or 2 hrs in the waiting room to feel like you've got your £995 worth 🤔

It’s 3 ECU flashes from memory as AWD is a separate ECU and I believe so is power steering. But considering EcuTek is 5min max yes 2hrs does seem crazy but this is new territory for any Toyota dealer.

This is why I'd like to see a genuine before and after dyno run.

Depending on the options that the customer has selected, the car might feel more grunty because of a different throttle response rather than the existence of more torque. The difference in the way the vehicle feels can be huge depending on how the throttle response is configured, even if there's zero change to the fuelling and ignition mapping.
