GR Yaris Toyota UK remap

I've had it done! Yes, cost £995 and it does feel better.
Steven Eagel Stourbridge did the update for me last Friday (25th July). It involved 3 ECU flashes.
I went with the "B road" profile and left the steering as standard (the options were light, standard or heavy). All profiles can be changed but Toyota have to do it for you, it cant be changed on the fly.

You also get a sticker to fix to the passenger side door slam; they are sending mine in the post as they didnt have it last week. I'll post a pic when it arrives. I also had them make a stamp in the service book stating the software update, which they did.

The additional torque in 2nd and 3rd is noticable. Throttle feels much more sensitive and responsive, something that i thought was lacking previously.

Overall happy with the decision and can recommend. The Service Manager, James was a diamond and totally looked after me.
 
Got my 36k service booked in at RRG Macc on the 12th. Waiting to hear back to see if it's an option to have this done too. Might have to sell a kidney, but I'll do anything for a sticker.

I am back from having 2 months of health problems
I can confirm we are up and running with the remap
If anyone wants this done at RRG Macclesfield we will be more than happy to arrange this with anyone who wants this
No sticker is available in our market but you will receive a credit card proof with unique code that is attached to your chassis number
 
Anyone know which dealers offer the remap so far? I'm in London so RRG is a little bit far
 
For Holland we have not heard anything about the upgrade yet.
 
Hopefully someone with the new map can show us in a dyno what it really adds to the car. Looks promising, though.

Definitely hard to judge without proper graphs. Quicker throttle map can make an user feels its car is faster while it isn't.

I'm curious to know if it is going to be made available in other countries too.
 
Do you still have the sport setting 30 front 70 rear?

I went for the same 3 options today at Steven Eagell in Bishops Stortford. Seek out Harry Matthews GR Service Specialist. It’s only for previously unmapped cars though.

I went for 45:55, heavy steering and quicker throttle response at Currie Motors Kingston. Immediately noticed the extra roadfeel from having less EPS but since there was lots of traffic on the way back I'm not sure about the other two yet. IMO the heavier steering should have been bound to track from factory as it communicates with you quite a bit more especially around bends, and still isn't very heavy anyways.
 
I went back road, I must say it's very noticeable it's just " more" and as it was said if they removed the upgrade from my car i would not be a happy camper, is it worth the money? I think it is but one man's £1kis another man's £3k so it's all relevant.
If it was offered to you when you were buying new you'd be all over it .

I'm probably being dim but when you say the customisation is for the track setting only, is that just the 4WD split, or the other tweaks too? Or to put it another way, do you get the throttle response and steering weight change in all 4WD modes? And the torque bump?

I decided to swallow the cost also and have mine booked in in a few weeks time. Will plump for the same settings I think.

Was wondering this too, ie when you turn the dial to “track”, is that when the steering weight etc changes? But presumably in normal mode, sport mode etc, nothing is altered and it all stays the same (apart from the torque boost).

Engine torque remap. I find this really noticeable, as it’s exactly where you would want it to be. It’s smoothed out that little lull before 3,500 rpm for me, and seems to just be ready to go when you put your foot down on the way out of corners. Bonuses are that mine seems happier at low RPM in traffic, with much less of that need to change down because it feels a bit lumpy and might stall. Also nice having that bit of extra torque in 6th at motorway speeds.

Quicker throttle response setting. Honestly, it’s tricky to tell which part of this is the pedal response and which is the remap, but I’m very happy with the combination.

Heavier steering feel. I was a bit nervous about this one because the car doesn’t have particularly light steering to start with and thought it might be heavy around town. Fear not, I left RRG thinking they might have accidentally put it on the lighter setting. It seems to me that it’s light at low speed, but when I chuck it into a bend, I swear I can feel it dart and the change of direction better. Could be psychological, or maybe they just topped up my tyre pressure at the service. Who knows 😆

45:55 torque split. Again, wasn’t 100% about losing the 50:50 but I spent the last hour in the Peak District and it just felt dialled in. I won’t pretend I drive on the limits to test this, all I know is it felt great.

So far, so good. I’ll be interested to hear the verdict of others. It’s a shame you have to pay for it tbh, because it would be a really nice improvement to all Gen 1s.

Put it this way, I think I’d be pretty disappointed if it was taken away from me now that I’ve tried it.

It sounds like a good upgrade although the price seems faintly silly. £500 and the ‘Keep it stock’ brigade (me) would probably be all over it.

You mention the drop in mpg, is that real or just a product of over excitement?!😆
 
Calibration ID for the Engine ECU power upgrade is 8966J5205000. It’s the same for the Gen1 GR Yaris WRC Triple Edition offered in Germany as well as for the UK cars.

I believe one could update this calibration themselves via TechStream if they could get hold of the CUW file.
However, the sticker would be missing, and the warranty would most likely be void.

The throttle response only changes above about 3,000 rpm. Keeps the car drivable and fuel mileage compliant during normal driving.
