Maybe because of the added exhaust they added some hp to the figure. :D

But the figures are off as stated. That much torque low down would be a killer combination... :D
I see, well it doesn't make any "more" power but it does produce more power lower in rev range, that doesn't look so bad with the increase in torque........ I'm going to say you'd probably feel that.

I had the update on done on Friday and have to say I'm glad I did. Throttle response is much better across the board, and power delivery feels smoother and earlier - feels like things start happening at 2.5k rather than 3k before. Pleasantly surprised.

I still think £995 for a ROM flash is a bit of a cheek, but on the other hand the difference feels worth it. As someone else said, if it were a £995 option when new I'm sure most of us would have taken it, and actually quite nice to get it further down the line - it's kind of made the car feel fresh again after going on 3 yrs.

I see you opted for heavy steering, is it much heavier than stock? i feel its quite weighted as standard in 50/50?

I didn't really notice any difference on the way home but the roads were mostly narrow with lumpy surfaces so was gripping the wheel tightly! I'd expect it to be more apparent on smoother open corners - will let you know.

As there seems to be limited info on where you can get this update (I have yet to see a list of participating dealers), I have found two places near London: Steven Eagell Bishop’s Stortford and Hills of Hainault. I’m booked in at the former next week.

I had a chat with my local dealer a couple of weeks ago, they had a note from Toyota GB that all dealers now offer the upgrade, so there shouldn't be an issue with availability.

I’m thinking about it. My local dealer in Lincoln can do it. My man maths is: If it had been offered from the start I probably would have taken it as £995 on a £34k purchase would have been below the radar. Problem is £995 is quite a lot of money now. However, I have had the car from new (4 years). I will probably keep the car at least another 5 years. £995 over 5 years is about £200 per year or £4 per week. Less than a pint of beer a week.
All I need to tip me over the edge is more positive feedback.

I would give that an A* for man maths👌. Regarding feedback, I'm also reading reviews with interest, my sense is that it's unanimously positive.

I'm getting mine done at RRG Macclesfield when I'm in for service spring next year.

I had the software update installed at the beginning of the week by RRG Macclesfield . A big thanks to Richard for his expertise and service level.

I should make clear that my car is a daily driver as well as the fun car.

I went for throttle responsive, steering heavy and 45/55.

Yes the steering is meatier especially towards the end of its lock when pulling out of parallel parking spaces. But it’s no heavier than you may select in a Sporting Golf or Focus. It’s very much a personal choice.

Daily driveability much improved both cold and warmed up, lost the slight throttle tardiness on pickup and lift off when cold. Pulls 1200rpm in 4th at 30 mph without the excessive vibration and throbbing of the 3 cylinder that required a change down to smooth out. All this also facilitates smoother gear changes.

So that covers what should have been oem.

The car picks itself up earlier and gets into its stride noticeably quicker and harder, feels a lot sharper / aggressive . It’s surprisingly how a small torque increase and a change to the rev range can make such a difference to the feel of the car. A definite big plus. I was going to comment on the mpg, but life’s too short.

Combined with RRG’s fast road alignment, which really ups the turn in rate and available grip to the expected levels for a balanced fast car, before there was way too much understeer, I’m very happy with the package.

Some will think it’s poor value for money, but those who think if it was an option at new purchase they would take it are probably correct.

Would I recommend it, without hesitation if you are keeping the car stock or just looking at a modified air intake, filter and exhaust.

No doubt if you are modifying beyond this, then not as you would be looking at remapping.

Hope that’s of some help to add to others experience of the Toyota remap and settings options.

That's great, thanks for chipping in.

I'm convinced enough to have this done at my next service.

Out of interest and without wishing to derail the thread; did RRG use OEM bolts to adjust the camber and how much did they charge for the geometry change please?

Thanks, excellent feedback!

For me it’s the positive feedback I’ve read online combined with keeping the Toyota warranty. Maybe down the line I’ll make further upgrades but for now I value the warranty as ours is a daily (I also have a 997 Carrera S).
