GR Yaris Toyota UK remap

This is a bit of a conundrum... While it's good to see they are open to it, it's also a chunk of money for 20 Nm of torque...

For my road car I'm not seeing much of an attraction for the other settings, seeing as you can't adjust them yourself. Steering weight isn't light to start with, I can't see myself wanting to go heavier, but some weight is good. For the drivetrain bias, would I really want to lose 50/50 for a 45/55? Not sure, or even that I could tell the difference. The throttle response is the only once that might be interesting, although I have no complaints at the moment. Hard to know whether the changes will be anything other than the novelty of a change from what we're used to.

Still, more torque with same warranty is tempting. I'm looking forward to seeing the opinions of those who do go for it.

I can see those with low mileage cars that are unmodified this could be appealing as I doubt you will loose the money being an OEM upgrade. For those who modify or have higher mileage cars or track them so the extended warranty doesn’t apply then a proper tune is likely more appealing.

I think this is an appealing option, but I wouldn't want to lose the 30:70 drive mode. It's my favourite.

@Armijs Heard anything from Toyota Baltics about rolling this out?
Yeah right ! LOL, they are thinking maybe adding wider range of Fluids for sportier cars as there is some demand from the enthusiasts. I REALLY doubt anything like this would ever come to something as small as the Baltic market....

Pistonheads did an article based off the limited info we have and now Toyota UK have reached out to them.

This is a pilot scheme our accessories team are running for a couple of months before deciding how or whether to take further. Only a limited number of centres are involved as there is a limited number of kits, which may explain why some of them stare blankly if you contact them.

Seems a bit pricey to me.

Wonder if the setup you go for is fixed or changeable (steering/throttle response)?

If fixed, I can imagine it being less desirable for current owners, and not ideal for future sale value.

Hmmm might reach out to Oakmere and check availability…….

"Only a limited number of centres are involved as there is a limited number of kits"
If limited kits does this imply some hardware as well as the software ?

Am I the only one who feels is really stupid to adjust track mode only (in my opinion the best 4WD mode), instead of the 60/40 normal mode?

I rather have Normal 45:55, Track 50:50 and Sport 30:70 than Normal 60:40, Track 45:55 and Sport 30:70.

If they make it available to everyone, for, say 300-400 quid, they would sell loads. At 995 pounds, is not a great value proposition, imo.

I also don’t get the “limited kits” stuff if this is a software update.

Also worth mention, that the 14 nm increase is not much, but it is a different story if the overall torque curve is increased by say 10 nm everywhere with a 14 nm peak, rather than a spike of 14 nm between 3000-3500 rpm, as one of the graphics, suggest.

Just spoke with dealer in Vic, they haven't had a bulletin or heard anything from Toyota Australia as yet.
:)
Thanks for checking. It's only a 10Nm increase from our 370Nm, which is only a 2.7% increase, so probably unnoticeable. I don't think they would release an update that might possibly hurt Gen2 sales.

It is a bit confusing having two different bulletpoints, one for boosted torque and another one, stating improving torque curve, when it is really just the first one based on their own graphic.
