GR86 What did you do with your GR86 today

Since Japfest I have done a lot of changes.
Lightweight Wheels, 3" arp studs all around, Reyland CP9200 FBBK, dot4 brake fluid, RUCAs, peddlers front top mount, OM cup car snorkel intake, 14mm camber bolts, larger diff cover, replaced diff oil, dropped the oil pan and got the pickup cleaned, got a fast road alignment and the best one is replacing the 4.1 oem final gear with a 4.56 final gear.

Well, it is another car
70mph is 3400 rpm now.
Commuted today on a mix of motorway and A roads, 120 miles without hanging about and got 35mpg (on a full tank) which I think is pretty good.
NVH wise, a tiny bit louder but for me this is not a GT car.
Drives amazing with the new alignment settings. Need to get them from fensport.

I will get used to the car for a few months then I will do a few other stuff 😁
I take it that you've only changed the front brakes?

@Alistair31 trade-in for what??
An M2 Comp

From a brief (1hr unaccompanied) test drive in wet conditions I concluded that it was significantly more refined than the GR86 and had better grip, also much quicker of course. Nice as all that was, it really did feel quite a lot less special than I thought it would.

Always fancied one and this one was local and in good condition/spec/price. The service it needed was £1124, so combined with the above and the hassle of trying to sell privately, I ultimately thought better of it in the end.

After 12k miles and 2 track days I have changed the tires to continental spot contact 7 (225/40/18). They seem quite gripy so far, but I'm not sure they will last as much as the PS4's.

I wanted to fit PS4S, but 40£ difference each tire lead me to try the Continentals

The cost of servicing and consumable parts are so often overlooked when the GR86 is compared to other cars. For the money (purchase price plus running costs), i can't think of a better car.

Yes, rears are untouched.

Took a trip across the Brecon Beacons. The GR was awesome across these roads. The low weight, steering response, balance and grip meant it just flowed along the road carrying speed and putting a smile on my face. Wouldn’t have swapped it for anything else on these roads!

My GR86 work is far more mundane than that of all you specialists. I've been busy on AliExpress and fitted knee cushions (passenger side fouls the drop-down glove box somewhat) and a small tray for the top of that awkwardly-shaped glove box (very handy for small items).

I've also received some internal door kick protection that's going to be a bit of a nightmare to fit accurately (there are 55 pieces of adhesive tape on the back). Currently hanging over the sofa arms in an attempt to get them flat (delivered lightly folded). I've also ordered some suede B pillar and threshold protection.

Really hot today, so a good time to get the wax crayons out and treat some surface scratches left behind by a cat that was clearly an 86 aficionado. Toyota should never have subcontracted the paint finishing to Cadbury's.

Bought the Halfords Advanced 3T Low Profile Trolley Jack (to replace my 2T one) and nearly did myself a mischief getting it out to the car. Fooks me it's heavy! 🥵 ... Now browsing AliExpress for a selection of thicker Jack pads.

My one from SGS is 43kg. Way more than I expected

Something about the light at this time of year and the dark blue =

Did look at a Japanese tuner selling the CP9660 fronts then CP9440 for the rear. My OCD means I'd have to change both. AP's are my preferred so far since parts should be easier to come by in future.
Since the CP9200 calipers maintain the F/R balance you could pair with OEM 2 pot brembos or the cheaper copies that are available from the likes of DBA and have a good looking and very functional setup. I wouldn't go bigger than 330mm on the front as by all accounts you really don't need more and it'll just add weight.

I went for the Reyland front-only kit and I'm only planning on changing rear pads to balance out more aggressive front pads (possibly EBC RP-1 with titanium shims front and Yellowstuff rear).

I notice most seem to have gone for black calipers though, I went for red as I think it compliments the blue nicely. Also went for curved vane, J-hook rotors which I think will have the best overall performance/£ of the available options.

Would all have to be the same brand as my OCD could never deal with it. I have MX72 pads on order for the stock setup for now until I decide, probably next year what setup to go for.

Following up on this (my own 😅)

Went for a little drive today, the tires have a lot of grip, however I can feel the car has a lot more body roll, potentially because I changed to 225 on the stock rims 🤷‍♂️

Does anyone is using 225s on the stock wheels?
