GR86 What did you do with your GR86 today

2 near misses so far but I’ve a feeling my luck is gonna run out at some point… 🫣🥴
Somehow finding it tricky to judge the position of the front spoiler

Clearly none of you "drive nose in" folk have ever owned a c.2003 SEAT Leon Cupra R.

Those who have, will know what I'm talking about.

A discarded post-it note would scuff the underside of the front spoiler on that bugger.

Had to use the horn for the first time this evening, when some absolute mouth breather in a white van aggressively cut me up at a merge point. Shouldn't have bothered, sounds crap. Would have been more effective to wave my handbag at him.

I must confess to have researched changing the horn. There are some plug and play ones, the difficult part is the removal of the bumper

Since Japfest I have done a lot of changes.
Lightweight Wheels, 3" arp studs all around, Reyland CP9200 FBBK, dot4 brake fluid, RUCAs, peddlers front top mount, OM cup car snorkel intake, 14mm camber bolts, larger diff cover, replaced diff oil, dropped the oil pan and got the pickup cleaned, got a fast road alignment and the best one is replacing the 4.1 oem final gear with a 4.56 final gear.

Well, it is another car
70mph is 3400 rpm now.
Commuted today on a mix of motorway and A roads, 120 miles without hanging about and got 35mpg (on a full tank) which I think is pretty good.
NVH wise, a tiny bit louder but for me this is not a GT car.
Drives amazing with the new alignment settings. Need to get them from fensport.

I will get used to the car for a few months then I will do a few other stuff 😁

Nice! The diff ratio change intrigues me, how much more urgent would you say it feels @Grblue86 ?

Today I fitted my Aliexpress carbon fibre armrest button

Much more, its 11% 'more' torque to the wheels than before.
Only downside is that the gear indicator is not correct for 3rd onwards, as in 6th shows as 5th on the dash. Fensport can remap it but I rather wait a bit more before touching the ECU

Any photos of your car? Worthless without pics! 😁

:O You've gone for even shorter gearing?! I want to make mine longer.

Were you able to fit the 3" ARP in the rear without issues?

They were complicated, I posted about it in another thread. The key is to loosen completely 2 of the hub bolts and loosen the other 2 enough to get the space needed.

I am on 4.56 FD also. 2nd gear is useless unless I am in an autocross hahaha. I usually use 1st (when i am not in a hurry, i dun even throttle, just slowly let off the clutch hahaha) then skip to 3rd then right to 5th and lug the engine. When I want some urgency, I will drag out 3rd to 6000rpm then right into 6th hahaha.

And I find 3rd is my best engine brake/overrun gear. From moderate speeds, I will just double de clutch from 5th or 6th right to 3rd. From higher speeds and higher braking, I will couple that with a heel toe.

Me and my synchros have a love hate relationship.

I average 28 mpg. 29mpg was my best ever. Calculated from the pump. Never lived with the stock 4.1 long enough to know the difference hahaha.

One of my best mods ever.

10k service at Abbey Redhill yesterday, all good for the next 10k; although I might alternate a DIY oil and filter at opposing 5k going forward.

Impresive stuff sounds a bit to mad for me. Like something I would do in my my misspent youth. Top work could make a useful hillclimb car.
