GR86 What did you do with your GR86 today

Had 2nd service at Tuning Developments today, all good, def recommended if you’re not too far away. While there had a passenger demo in their turbo’d car, Lordy! That would confuse all those folks who think these cars aren’t that quick 😁. Impressive power delivery from low down, not peaky, and didn’t seem too loud with their exhaust system, barring the screamer pipe. That was with the 350 map, not the higher ones they’re working on, can’t imagine what they’d be like 😱.

Cancelled my Admiral auto-renewal (not straightforward) @ £366 without b/d cover. Replaced it with same cover but £100 less excess, added Legal cover and added RAC breakdown for £220.

Do they really just make up the numbers?

Historically, I've found Admiral to be the worst for this. I've cancelled renewals with them in order to make a huge saving with another insurer. Then they call up saying, "well, we could have matched that price".
"Well, If you matched it in the first place you would have had my continued custom. Good day."

Service done and moted too. Disappointed with the dealer experience to be honest but the good independents are too far away. I don't care much for the warranty as that would prevent me from modding it and make it my own so even though they are far away I am going to consider using them instead.
I made good use of their coffee machine while I sat there for half a day. They say to be there for 8:30 prompt which I was, only to hang about for 40 mins to get booked in. The car was all done by 12 but I was there until gone 1 while other walk-ins were seen to before me. The service girl was attentive and polite though. No issues with actually dealing with the staff and were receptive with the washer and the pics from here, which is a nice change from last time. Only comment was from a customer when the tech started my car I'd parked outside the door. They jumped and said "Ooh that a loud car!". Got the video emailed of them going under the car, etc, no upselling but is a lot for just over £400. Despite being told about using my own parts, they had to because they didn't have them in stock. Service says one more year warranty so I'll give it one more year and any other niggles they can sort. Rear cam will be one eventually. At some point it's being mapped, if only to sort the throttle map out. Drive it daily and you work around it. If you don't then it's really noticeable. I don't have any good indy's near me I'd trust. Garage Whifbitz is Caldicot so still a good 90mins away. But If I'm going that far then I'd probably spin a bit further up to TD.

My P0420 fault code saga continues. After the 3rd diagnostic visit (and replacement of the full catalytic converter and o2 sensor) I am told it needs a new airflow sensor. No problem huh…

Not available before 19th December!

I had the pleasure of their courtesy BZ4X today and may have a Toyota supplied loaner until the part arrives. 🙃

Is that the same as the MAF sensor that sits on top of the Cold Air input hose, or something different?
I believe so but I was not hearing it first hand from the tech. Nor am I very mechanically minded. That said, if you were having a stab at replacing parts rather than doing convincing diagnostics, you might have expected the MAF to have been done before the full catalytic converter? Perhaps.

Did this error start appearing after replacing/refitting any exhaust parts, such as the centre pipe or back-box? I'm wondering if there's a leak in the system causing this ...

No and Toyota Newbridge already looked at the full exhaust system before replacing the o2 sensor. What I can’t understand is how Toyota approved a catalyst replacement under warranty without clear evidence of fault with that particular part. You would think they would say replace o2 sensor and MAF before it escalated to that if it wasn’t evidently faulty?

Shouldn’t complain about all the new parts really but it’s just the inconvenience of taking it in.

3rd service and MOT done earlier this week. Service done as per the "intermediate" schedule, apart from having the air filter changed @ 3 years/30k miles . . . . even though the dealership had several week's notice they didn't have the filter in stock, which was a tad annoying - will go back to get this done as soon as they get the filter in. MOT passed with no advisories. Vehicle health check picked up a very small cut in the passenger side wiper blade - replacement Denso DUR050R ordered today from Amazon. Original tyres down to around 4.5 mm, so these'll probably need replacing before the next MOT.

Edit: not sure, but think that the System software might have been updated too - version is now TG7CMM120-580.

I'll need to check that later.

Called up my current insurers (Hastings) to notify them of the modification of my exhaust (HKS Legamax axle back), was subsequently told they wouldn’t insure it with that fitted. Whoops 😂

Cancelled it and scrambled on the comparisons and got another equivalent policy with admiral and the mod accounted for - for £20 more. Thankfully I will be getting a decent rebate for the remainder of my old policy. I will have to make sure I check before I fit anything else in future! 😂

Try LV. I had the same problem as you when I wanted to fit my Miltek.
Not only did they accept my exhaust they also covered the PPF too.

Insurance sorted for another year - M&S Premium, with included UK and european breakdown cover, reasonable policy excesses and added no claims protection; worked out to be a few £ cheaper for better cover than was offered by Churchill for renewal, plus £45 Quidco cashback for using their quote comparison facility. Happy :)

Mine was reinsured with the AA late October.

No issues with axel back or spoiler.

£360 with £150 excess, anywhere recovery (full ncd, clean licence, Dorset- parked on drive). Insurance costs seem to be settling down. I still can’t get my head round the ins group 45D, which is v8 AMD /M3 territory.
