GR86 What did you do with your GR86 today

Thanks been planning this trip for a couple years…. I’ve heard great things about the Wild Atlantic Way. It’s fingers crossed for the Irish weather though!
Last year, we have been traveling the Wild Atlantic Way for close to two weeks, and it was great. An amazing country and lovely people. There are some fantastic roads for sporty driving and I did regret not having my GR at the moment, because the rental dacia was awful to drive. On the other hand some roads are damn narrow and the flora is growing in to the street. As a result the left side of the car collected some scratches 😬 not been used to driving on the left side didn't help 😅

If your route takes you to the south, I can recommend the Healy Pass in Co. Cork.

Have a great journey :)

First track day at Bedford today, met @ninjin (a pleasure meeting you Alan) and another gr86. There were 3 gr86s and a BRZ. Ninjin car goes well, obviously credit to the driver.
I managed around 15 laps in total I think. Took it easy as no oil cooler meant temps reached 120celsius. It cools down quickly to 110celsius if you let off a bit, but still no fun if you can only do one hot lap, so that will be next on the mods list.
Car behaved well aside from that, I have 225 section tires Dunlop Sport max 2 on 17" wheels so. Brakes didn't cause any issues, I have the apracing 330mm kit at the front and sti replica at the back.
I did hit the limiter a couple of times so maybe I need to get an exhaust but it is one of the last things I want to do as I am very conscious of my elderly neighbours,
Left at 5:30am, home by 4:30pm

It was great to meet you at Bedford, I did a last run around 3.30pm and called it a day. In car footage is not that good as the cam get moving over the apex rumble strips.

I don't think I was 'faster' than you because of skill more of the fact I had sticky rubber!
One video done:

I also played at Bedford yesterday and can confirm the @ninjin 's 86 is flying machine, whether by driver, rubber or mods.

Thoroughly enjoyed it - sadly I had to go to work at 3pm so cut my day short but was smiling all the way through my shift!

Sorry I didn't get to say Hi to you! Glad you had a good time.

We need to organize something, I feel like this year has been very thin on the ground (aside from Japfest) in terms of meet, let alone drives .

We have the Brooklands event :)

Had my 2nd year service today (16,500 miles / 2 years daily use) Gotta say as someone who’s been servicing my own cars for about 30 years, 500 quid for a glorified oil change made me feel like a bit of a dick. Just telling myself it’s £100 for the oil change and £400 for a years warranty…
Also, they left my locking wheel-nut box in the workshop and didn’t rotate my wheels cos the rears were more worn than the fronts and apparently “it’s the fronts that wear the most, sir” 🤦‍♂️

No brake fluid change?

2 year service includes replace cabin air filter, replace brake fluid, replace engine oil & filter.

BTW, if you’re on a service plan you can take it to any Toyota dealership , not just the one where you bought the plan.
100% brake fluid should have been changed. Personally I would also change the diff. fluid as well, especially given your mileage even though recommendation is 20k.

My year 2 service included diff oil change . . . sounds like they don't know what they're doing. Correct grade of oil used?
It definitely feels there's an arbitrariness to the second year / 20k service. I had diff fluid replaced but not brake fluid, it seems the brake fluid is the one consistently not being changed/flushed. It's not particularly good, especially given the extortionate price.

Brake fluid should really be done every two years.
I had my second service at Abbey, and we talked about the diff, as although it was the second year, I was still only on 14K or something. But I said let's just do it every other service anyway, as it's not exactly a huge cost.

And diff oil as well.

My 2nd year service, oil, brake fluid, diff. Reported tires as 4.5mm rear, 6mm front. Had to pay Kwik Fit £35 to swap them.

Sadly mine has a minor oil leak, so back in a week Friday to sort that out. Health check video->
