Just make sure you don't get it on any bare plastic, and wash it off afterwards as it's pretty savage (from what I've heard).

Gtechniq 'W7 Tar & Glue Remover' will be your friend for the gummy strips. It's hard on gummy stuff, but soft on paint finish.
