GR86 What did you do with your GR86 today

I paid £470 for my second service and the diff oil wasn't changed as far as I can work out from the bill below.

The 3rd service is due next month so how much extra should I expect to pay to have it done?

You shouldn’t be paying anything extra. The service costs are fixed, and therefore you’ve effectively paid for something (the diff oil change) which hasn’t been done.

Zero, its include in the 2nd year £550 service. No one will be paying for it not being done, and then getting it done.

Do you have any official evidence that in needs doing at every major service?
Seems to be a lot of people in the same boat not having it done.
Even my local dealer said every 4 years.
They happily did mine for me though at year 2.

£470 was the 2nd service price last year (now £545) and changing the diff oil is part of the service, so yours should be done for free. I was charged £365 for my 2nd service a month ago - which implies that I only received an intermediate service - and that's why I'm being asked to pay I suppose. Full list price of Toyota diff oil is just over £60/litre bottle (it can be bought cheaper) and 2 would be needed for the 1.2 litre capacity.

It's recommended on 2nd service by Toyota on their website.

The schedule in the service book I got with the car states rear differential oil to be changed at 20,000 miles or 4 years, so I’m sticking with that. I guess it depends on how many miles you do in a year, I’m doing nowhere near 10k a year so I’ll get mine changed after 4 years.

That is your prerogative, but surely the online service schedule is more up to date than the printed service book that comes with the car?

Would the next person getting a service *please* query that item on the service sheet and ask how that was done (obvs without letting on there isn't one)
👍 I'd like to see Toyota GB direct all dealers to produce a schedule sheet for each appropriate service, with ticks/remarks as needed. Some Scottish dealers do this already (illustrated on here some while ago) and I don't see why this can't be standard practice. It would stop all this nonsense of what should and shouldn't be done.

I queried this yesterday and said about the fixed servicing, yet there being nothing on the invoice. The book says every 20k or 4years (was 15k/2yrs at the time) and they've asked to see the check sheet the tech did, where under Replace Front and Read differential oil he's ticked not applicable to this service interval. If I log into the portal, it only shows me for an intermediate service as that's what next. But it's all fixed so how do you get it done? The logic doesn't work. I'll email them back with this image and see what they say.

Odd that they're asking to see the check sheet. I asked Cardiff to look at the invoice in their system so they can see there was no mention of differential oil, which they did and confirmed it would be done on service 3 instead. Seems you have a more uphill battle than I did which is annoying considering they're in the same group!

When I accessed their website to see the schedule of each service, I selected a dealer miles away that didn't have my records on file. That gave me full details of each annual service.

🤔 Mmm... I see my reply to this has been appended to the bottom of Kobayashi's original. 🙄 It said:
