GR86 What did you do with your GR86 today

Oh!
I’m not sure if it was the first sensor or the second that they replaced however it clearly wasn’t what was required. Nor does it seem to have required a full catalyst replacement, because the EML is back with the same fault code 🤦‍♂️

i set up live data on my obd2 and had both lambda sensor voltages monitored and noticed the second sensor would now and again have a slight hissy fit...
since changing it its been fine!

shame its not fixed!

catalysts usually only go due to fuel contamination or thermal shock or age (wear & tear)...they will probably throw a few more £1000.00's at it to fix it!

Went for a drive 😀

MOT passed this morning. Yay.

Then found a bulge in the sidewall of my GFs car. No chance of replacement until Monday earliest. Which means the GR will have to get used in the meantime, including trips to the stables, and probably with the dogs on board. So, seat covers on, and I'm preparing for the worst.

Boo.

Washed the car this morning for the first time in ages. The Bilt Hamber 'Double Speed-Wax' I put on some months ago seems to have lasted very well, but I applied an extra coat to the more horizontal surfaces - roof, bonnet & boot - to give some protection against bird drone attacks (mainly pigeons). The other day, I saw a car down the road absolutely plastered - unfortunately the owner's drive is overhung by a birch tree. The leaves and seeds get everywhere as well and I'm forever clearing out all the nooks and crannies on the 86. I rounded off an energetic morning by spraying the brakes and discs with Bilt Hamber 'Atom-Mack', a decent product that lasts quite a while and stops that scraping noise when you apply the brakes for the first time after the car's been standing a while.

Might give that Atom-Mac stuff a try, washed the car yesterday and I always hate seeing rusty orange discs when the rest of the car is looking perfect!

Driving it since the Swift failed MOT and took a few days to fix so now it's dirty again with all the rain. Service and MOT being done in 3 weeks. After that I'll wash it and put away for Winter. I'll phone dealer this week to confirm they have all the service bits in as they've refused to use mine. I'll be insisting on diff and gearbox oil change. I just find any dealing with them tedious as if they aren't used to or care about what I want as a customer. Probably because they aren't used to knowledgeable customers. Only those who don't care much and just go along with their suggestions and pay the bill without caring.

Still got the washer to do.

The washer in the window mechanism? It makes such a difference to not hear that 'crack'

Booked my third service today for 03/01. Tried to get the person doing the booking to confirm if the missed diff oil change from service 2 can be carried out at service 3.

“Please check with the service advisor on the day”.

I know exactly what’ll happen if I leave it like that. Turn up on the day, advisor has no idea about the diff oil change, don’t have relevant parts/fluids, not done again.

Probably going to be best to just go down in person and ensure it’s all correct.

Why are some dealerships so difficult? It’s baffling.

It's utter shit and like you, I'm in the same group of them too. I'll be phoning them next week to confirm that

Several of you have taken your cars back to the dealers to have the diff oil changed after it was omitted in the 2-year service. Can anyone give me the price they were charged for this?

Just given the interior a thorough clean after it spent the weekend having to be used to ferry a muddy girlfriend and muddy dogs to the stables while her car was off the road. My back hurts.

Mine is being done FOC. It’s meant to be included in the fixed price of the second service, so I’ve already paid for it technically.

Had a call from the Cardiff garage apologising for the oversight at service 2 and confirming diff oil will be done at service 3 instead.
Need to check but I'm pretty sure I didn't pay for it, even though I asked. I'll insist it's done this time. I'll phone them next week to confirm it's all in stock to do.

Zero, its include in the 2nd year £550 service. No one will be paying for it not being done, and then getting it done.

I paid £470 for my second service and the diff oil wasn't changed as far as I can work out from the bill below.

The 3rd service is due next month so how much extra should I expect to pay to have it done?
