GR Yaris (Gen 2) Process for purchase

Yeah way too much money, I thought maybe sub 40k, I still love mine after 3yrs and 25k!
Think I will go to Litchfields and go for more HP💨💨
Wouldn’t mind the new rear lights, can we do a group buy?🤣🚗💨💨
I’m tempted by the remap too, whifbitz more local for me
Will see how they go this next couple of months

I agree it’s now an expensive little car, but have tried driving a new m2 at a similar pace in all weathers ?
I fancied one, had done a deal on a new black manual for £58k
Borrowed the demo for a weekend to make sure I was doing the right thing. Put about 300 miles in it, mid wales blasts, took it to work, out with friends for a meal etc
Zero grip in the damp, good front end feel but no confidence in the rear
A nice car, but not a point to point fun car
If the x drive version appears I may try it again but otherwise it’s a no from me and my use of a car
I won’t be saying yea to a mk2 this year either, maybe next year or ideally the year after tho and I might
Interesting how many different settings did you try with the adjustable traction control. It does have 460bhp! I found it had plenty of wet grip on my test drive. If you get the traction settings correct. Chris Harris reckons one of the best cars for the money.

Tried it on two different settings, one with max traction, one lesser but still some
Wasn’t the power, it was the massive mid grunt
I had both e36 and e46 m3 back in the day and they were great cars

Coming to the conclusion £50k inc paint etc for the Yaris is just too much. Think Toyota has gone from one extreme to the other between mk1 and Mk2. Something like a new M2 with 460bhp can be had for £60k with discount
I think the problem here is not that £50k is too much, it’s that the MK1 RRP was too cheap and has masked that prices have risen considerably since launch.

An example of what near £30k gets you today is the hybrid Yaris, the new Dacia Duster (the old model was £10k cheaper) or the current Abarth petrol is £33k.

I think second hand values on the original homoligation, circuit pack will go up and now and bridge the gap.🤣💸💸🚗💨

Exactly. When people say the 45k model is expensive... Then a specced golf r is 53k+.... A polo gti specced is 35k+ and a mini jcw is anywhere from 40-46k! ... So I think the gr yaris, (while isn't cheap) isn't insane money in today's mad market.

I think the scary thing is if we part ex for the new one it’s Gona be £20k plus🤦‍♀️🚗💨

Has anyone been formally invited yet in the UK, or is this just poorly written from the website which was updated last week...

Existing GR Yaris customers and those who joined the official UK waiting list prior to it closing in May 2022 have been contacted to enter the draw.

I expect this is going to be an issue for a lot of mass market vehicles too. Add in the higher rates and manufacturers are going to have to either give heavy subsidies (deposit contributions, subsidised APR%) or see customers walk away from monthly PCP payments that double. I’d certainly expect to pay double what I do atm if I PE for the new GRY, which is why I’ll be paying it off and keeping the car.

Another keeping the original here, recently paid off and feeling lucky to have gone for the great deals back in '21.....

I've not been contacted but I am sure I am still on the list as had an email in oct last year asking if I want to stay on it. Fingers crossed I get into the ballot but probably won't win one :cry:

And how long will people have the new one before they realise they have let theirs go and paid £20k out and the novelty has now worn off and they then wish they had kept their relatively new MK1 plus the £20k they are now paying.
That is the concern in my mind as that would be really annoying.

Had a specific email about 10 days ago confirming I was in the ballot.

“The purchasing ballot will be opening soon, if successful you'll have the chance to be one of the first to purchase New GR Yaris, with deliveries starting later this year. Further details on how to enter will be shared in May. We'll be in touch to keep you posted, every step of the way.”

When will be the first post of “it’s May why haven’t they opened the ballot!!!!” My bet is in less than 24hrs 🤭

Thanks for joining the waitlist for GR Yaris. Due to overwhelming demand, the 2024 allocation of New GR Yaris will be available exclusively through an online purchasing ballot, for current owners and those who joined the waitlist prior to its closure in May 2022.
