GR Yaris (Gen 2) Process for purchase

Heard the same , spoke to my dealer this morning. Order book open in March and production starts , demos in June and deliveries in Q3 , so around September.

This was shared yesterday morning and seems consistent with other members, who have enquired since.

a bit more regarding UK orders.
  • Ordering available from March - all to be done online, not in centre. (This is so TGB can manage allocation)
  • Production starts in April 24'
  • Demo's with dealers June 24'
  • Customer deliveries due to arrive q3 24

Here's hoping TGB have learnt some lessons and applied/will apply some improvements following the somewhat mixed (and that's being kind) experience us GR86 'first batch' owners had.

I hope that everyone who wants one, can get one.

(Whilst I'm here and at the risk of swimming against the tide, from the pictures I've seen I really like the dashboard! It's very Japanese, 'industrial', and reminds me of the 90s/00s rally reps. Very much in keeping with the ethos of the car, I think.)

I'll scurry back over to the GR86 part of the forum now...

Hoping they don't jack the price to an unreasonable level and it is still sub £40k. Intrigued to see how many will be available but after getting in on the first GR86 batch and waiting from April 2022 to August 2023 I don't think I can go through it again even though it is completely my wife's car. I just enjoy the bonus of being able to drive it too!

There have always been many more GR Yaris available than GR86 so while it will likely sell out again, hopefully there will be a decent enough chance of getting one and there aren't <1,000 making their way over.

I’m thinking £39995 and 6.9% APR. I reckon the monthlies will put a lot off. Also with secondhand finance being 10% plus it will hit the flippers market. Always be the cash buyers

As we did not have a "proper" online-only approach so far in Germany, what does this approach mean in the UK? Is the ordering process handled completely with Toyota GB directly? So no room for negotiations on price and additional services/bits included?

There will probably be more buyers than 2024 allocation. It will be an online sale first come first inline. Full price no discount. All you do is nominate the dealer where you want to collect the car.

Best thing to do looking at the GR86 is just hold on to your money. Wait for the cancelations that cannot afford it and then wait for a Pre-Reg 2k under list price from a dealer.....

If the GR86 was anything to go by the new Yaris will be the same. Very few will buy outright and plenty will not be able to afford the monthlies.

I think a lot will drop out. More and more fixed rate mortgages to be refinanced at higher rates over next 18 months

I got a brand new white GR86 just before Xmas and got £2500 off it. I hedged my bets and it worked.
May not work for everyone. Was buying cash too so did help.

Yeah hindsight is a wonderful thing. Paid cash as well but my dealership had to send two back. People order them then once they get here realise they cannot get the finance on them and they get sent back to Derby for dealers. Even now unsecured loans are around 8-9% and you will not get the deals like you had with original with 7k down.

Tbh I spotted the financial issues rising when the interest rates went up and just thought a lot of people would be rethinking their purchases.
I decided to hold off putting my name on the 3rd list in October and just watching what happened. Just thought if it will be then it will be. I was lucky I think.

I asked the question a few days ago about the ordering. I'm beginning to think they will open a list then simple select at random to stop the fiasco of the GR86 ordering. Similar to what they did for the GRNM in Japan if I remember correctly.

Interesting that they point to a "unique" ordering process. I very much doubt it will be a free-for-all. Probably some kind of ballot lottery or something similar.

The best way to make you want something is to make you feel your not going to get it.

It will be the same process as the current car.
Order online via Toyota U.K. , select your dealership for collection and then wait.

maybe they will sell to customers who already have mk1. just kidding, likely not, but this is not the first time.
Was it in GRMN order form where you had to explaing your car history already.. IIRC.
