GR86 GR86 - What wheels and tyres are you thinking about?

.., I've seen a Lancia Stratos and a 911 GT3 in a similar blue and gold combo. Pound shop GT3 it is :ROFLMAO:
It looks fantastic and it gives me a real insight into how my OEM wheels will compare for next Winter. Thank you for the pics…
I think we are doing it a disservice with the Poundshop meme - I think you and I could go a little more upmarket with B&M GT3 maybe? 🧐

Some video shots of what they'll look like in the winter.
Nice to see the combination and although I love to watch GR86 content on YouTube, as soon as I hear an american accent I switch it off; all they seem to be concerned about is straight line performance, tracking it, or making it obnoxiously loud with stupid exhaust mods. Just my opinion of course, no offense intended ... 😇

Those guys are alright from what I recall.

I'm with you though. Youtube is always pushing me videos of young american vloggers with awful stancer 86s with 45 degrees of camber. It makes me feel sick seeing a car like that, especially when accompanied by the phrase, "the fitment is perfect"

Found this image of a Toyota GR wheel on the Wheel Specialist website, I'm wondering if it belongs to anyone in the 'Zoo'? Looks to be a decent colour. Would that be classed as Copper or Bronze I wonder? Think I'll have to contact the website ...

Dropped mine off at the Wheel Specialist tonight - not in a rush and should be ready Wednesday. That colour is Imola Bronze (not sure if the picture is a Matt or Satin finish). February special offer of 10% off the usual price.
Just got price for the tyres too (from my trusted local tyre place) of £90 225/40 R18 Continental Premium Contact 7

Obligatory over the shoulder view of the newly painted rims in the back of the car

Tyres early next week

Those look amazing! Definitely something I would do if I didn't have a red car (don't think gold on red works imo)

Just wanted to report back on my experience on the 225/40/18 Michelin CC2s after my first long journey. I've moved back to Scotland permanently after a couple years in Hampshire so had a good long motorway drive up north. The comfort difference compared to the PS4s is night and day, plus the reduction in road noise was massive too. I'd typically have my music up at 18-20 just to hear it while sitting at 70mph but I could hear easily enough as low as 12 on the new tyres. Averaged about 37mpg too which I was quite pleased with!

Also was passed by a GT86 just south of the border, didn't notice until I saw them flashing their hazards - gave them a little flash back! Love the smiles and waves I get from folks in GT86/BRZs, MX5s and even some Porsches!

Said you'd not be disappointed, 😁

Semi-regretting going for JR wheels but only because of the limited choice of wheel nuts due to their narrow bore. The black painted ones I ordered with the wheels were a mistake and are a rusty mess now after a single winter. I notice they now provide a completely different design (closed end, external spline drive) but I've ordered some European-manufactured nickel plated internal drive nuts for now (Bimecc brand) . They're not as aesthetically pleasing as the black ones but hopefully will hold up better to the elements.

I had the same issue with a set of Tuner Nuts from eBay. I 'restored' them with a bit of Rust Converter and Black Hammerite Satin (smooth). From a distance you can't tell. They'll certainly survive another season.

I haven't had any luck with black wheel nuts. All rust. Given up. Got some Project Mu nuts for road duty which will be carefully installed using manual tools. For track, I'll use the rusty black ones.

215/45/17 Goodyear Asymmetric 6 fitted on my eBay purchase today. Not sure about the look, but the driving feels great. Estimated weight 16kgs. Faster responses all round.

ET is 48 so I am thinking about fitting some spacers, maybe 10mm. What affect would that have on the handling?
