GR Yaris Canchecked

every radio has a 12v line that tells if light is on +12v or light is off 0v. it should be possible to put that signal into an input and monitor it...there are enough inputs.

why does hardware in 2022 have less features like radios in the 90s?

Because things don't work that way any more. Having a switched live run to anything that needs it would be extremely wasteful, heavy and prone to failure.

Having said that, there must be some CAN signal relating to lights or ambient light levels as the infotainment display also dims automatically. It even passes this on to connected CarPlay/AA devices afaik so those can implement dark mode on supported apps.

Is that what the little nubbin on the dash at the base of the windscreen is for maybe?

There is a CAN PID for the lights for sure. The issue is, that there is no standard PID for headlights in the OBD protocol. So with the way the Canchecked display in usually connected you cannot get to that information.

and if canchecked cant get this info out of the canbus, it should be possible to use one of the 4 analog inputs for those who want autodimming...Im not into coding, but a simple

if 12v then background light = 1
if 0v then background light = 5

should be possible. someone should ask again if that can be done. I dont have mine yet but as I know canchecked does not only use standard pids for the yaris variant....they now can read tyre temps what they couldnt before. so there must be some car- individual coding for the yaris

I also have the canchecked display with shift light. But I can't find the RPM test mode?? Is it in the DSS software?

There is no RPM specific test mode.
You just need to run the CANCHECKED test mode to validate that the SHIFTLIGHT settings are correct
 
Hi guys love this forum. I’m new to the Yaris and new to the forum. I have just installed the can check unit. Looks fantastic.
I’ve got most of it to work but can’t seem to get it to show gear position. I’d also love to get it to show the gazoo racing logo. I’m not lazy but there’s just not enough hours in the day. Is there anyone on this thread that can guide me through it or better still sell me an SD card with everything preloaded. Either way I’m happy to pay for the service.
 
Ill be getting one of these....so ill be picking peoples brains on here too.

Load screens/info etc.

have you look on the facebook page ?
I explained the manipulation to modify the animation of the screen when it is started
And I can share files for animations and backgrounds with GR logo

 
Hi all!
After uploading my images (logo00.bmp - logo23.bmp) and flashing the device (progress bar finished twice), I reboot and got a white screen. No matter what I do it won't go away. Tried re-updating firmware, didn't help. Connection with laptop is ok, green status, but further uploads "complete" instantly, can't load pages from display or anything. Touch screen display doesn't react to touch as well.

edit: CANchecked support got back to me already this morning with a new file to flash. Will try it out today.

I stopped posting on the facebook page, because some people did not understand that I was not the manufacturer and that blaming me for things directly in relation to the box was useless!
