GR86 What did you do with your GR86 today

My diff oil wasn't done on 2nd service either, so I asked Customer Relations at Toyota GB. A few days later, I had the dealer on email asking me to arrange a date for it to be done. It's certainly confusing (change brake fluid too??), so I asked TGB for a definitive servicing schedule for 2nd service. Nothing received yet.

Well my the service guy and the tech at my dealer said they defo know it’s every 4 years.

"Access battery Low charge" has started to appear - I'll replace it of course, but it's quite disappointing to get this after the battery was changed (FOC) at the second service, about 8 months ago and never did in the first two years from new . . .

Dealer using cheap 2032 batteries?

When I did my 2 year service last year at Abbey, we weren't sure it was required. But given it was every 2 years on the previous gen and it's not hard or expensive to change, I just asked them to do it.
What was the cost of the diff oil/drain plug on the invoice? The Cambridge dealer has agreed to do mine after missing it in 2nd service. They're not charging me for labour, but they say it's going to be £126.88 for the oil and drain plug. This seems excessive to say the least.

I'm literally sitting in Abbey Motorsport having my 3rd service done, so I asked Scott - the drain plug doesn't need changing. Technically the washer does, but he said they don't leak so didn't do it when they did mine.

Without labour, the cost of the oil (not Toyota branded but equivalent spec) is £33, the washer, he doesn't know so he's asked Toyota, but cant imagine its more than a couple of quid.

EDIT: £4.32 for a pair of washers from Toyota.

EDIT EDIT: Scott got a price on the Toyota oil - £65 per litres, and its 1.1-1.2 litres needed. So without labour you should really be looking at more like £70 from the dealer.

Thanks for rapid reply. Wow! Bit of a difference in costs there. I'll go back to the dealer (and it will probably be my last ever contact with them). Before I do, can anyone else on here give me the diff oil cost on their appropriate invoices?

I've done 2 Oil changes on my driveway with this car at roughly 6 and 18 months. The Oil Drain Plug Gasket is £1.89 from Fensport for a genuine part, so I've replaced it both times. If you ever have a look under the car yourself, you will be able to see if it has been changed because the original one is on the sump when it is painted. If it has been replaced then it will be silver, if not it'll be covered in black paint. You always want to make sure that you remove the existing one if you plan on replacing it. It can be a bit deceptive as the paint makes it stick to the hex head of the sump plug. You don't want 2 on there.

Worth noting that I had never performed an oil change in my life before getting this car. It's very easy. all you need is a socket and a means of catching the oil. The filter is very easy to access and can be removed / tightened by hand.

Gere's my shopping list below for an oil change. I can't remember if i applied the forum discount code or not

That'll be the engine oil change, rather than the diff oil.

My invoice at 20k Toyota service was £50.67 (2x quantity) for Gear Oil, £1.81 and £1.75 for the two washers, giving a total of £104.90.

(all wrapped up in that atrocious £545 total cost).

Have to use Type CR2032H ( high capacity), by evidence so far, normal CR2032 do not last long.

Worth considering a GR86 service kit from www.toyotadirectparts.co.uk - currently £95.32 inc delivery and VAT and which also includes air and cabin filters.

Which as I've found out they refuse to use after year 3. Has to be their parts to keep the warranty into year 4. Such a scam.

I'll be making sure they do the diff and gearbox oils this time. I asked at 2nd service and pretty sure they didn't. Will be on 20k come service

Exactly the same here. I’ve checked my 2nd year invoice and there’s nothing on there for diff oil, so will be getting them to do it this time. Expecting a fight but sounds like Toyota GB will back us up if needed.

Finally got the definitive list of servicing requirements for each annual service. Go to the URL below and go through the initial stages of booking a service (don't choose your own dealer as it only worked for me if I chose another - possibly because it records that I've recently had a service there and don't need another). After a few clicks, you'll get the annual list. I screenshot the 2-year one and it's on 4 pages.

Hope the link works - if not, cut'n'paste into browser:
