GR86 What did you do with your GR86 today

Might want to check they have done the diff oil - quite a few owners seeing this getting missed. Mine was service on Friday and I'm pretty sure it wasn't done. I queried it with Toyota GB and this morning they confirmed it definitely should have been done, waiting for the dealership to get back to me about it.
It was done.
They sent a video showing all the underside inspection, parts used, diff draining etc.

Had to share pics of my latest purchase... A new battery strap from car cottage.co.uk. I was looking for one but didn't want to spend stupid amounts on a Perrin one or Cusco one, and everything on Ali didn't look like it would fit. So I ordered this one in red. Blue and black are also available. It's for a GT86/BRZ but fits no problem and looks great 😃 Speedy delivery and free sweets as well 😁

I have the AliExpress struts, but I left the bonnet support in! Not entirely sure why, perhaps I should take it off. But then I'd only end up losing it.

I fitted a set of those last week! Great improvement that I had on my GT86. Hardest bit in the fitting was removing that bloody nut next to the wing - next mod might be buying some ratchet spanners!.... 😂 ... And I left the bonnet strut on, but perhaps it might now get removed...

Haha tell me about it. I have ratchet spanners in 8,10,14 and 17. The 12 was the only one I needed and I've bloody lost it

One thing I just noticed while removing my bonnet strut, I think you might have fitted your gas struts upside down.... I double checked mine against an install video and thicker part is at the top. It probably makes no difference but thought I'd mention it just incase.... 🙂

I think you might be right, I remember it triggering me a bit because I think it looks better to have the thicker part at the bottom. But I followed the crowd and put them "upside down". Can't see it making a practical difference though.

They’ll match with the ones on the boot lid which have a directional arrow…

Oh yeah so I have. Good spot. I'll flip them over.

Propper commitment to the front end de-badge there! Here's mine the day i fitted some definitely genuine BBS LeMans.

And one from the rear, without the granite wheels. The twin tips were the only hint of the "stage 2" upgrades. 220HP was a decent amount back then!

Camera phones have come a long way!

I also did the ever-popular VW sharan rear badge, but dont have a picture of that,

Oh nice, mine was a PD130, it was a sensible car after I binned my VX220 and could have seriously hurt myself. It went full circle, stock, modified, back to stock. The 3 piece BBS RS’ came off an RX7, I had them redrilled to 5x100, it got more attention than any car I’ve owned oddly enough. I did switch to BBS CH reps, whilst the RS’ are awesome wheels for a show car, the Golf was my daily doing 25k miles a year, I got fed up of cleaning them and trying to keep them pristine all year round.

When my Weitec coilovers gave up, I put it back all back to stock then drove it into the ground (232k miles). Not the most dynamically interesting thing, but it was a very good car.

Anyway, enough reminiscing, GR86s...

Couldn't agree more - I do use mine as my daily driver :p

I've decided 3rd gear is my favourite. So good for roundabout exits/slip roads joining dual carriageways. 2nd gear is a bit too rapid and needs a change at the top end, but if you can roll on from about 20mph you get to enjoy a nice sweep through the rev range with enough time to notice all the different acceleration rates - much more enjoyable than more powerful cars that get up to 70 in just a moment and then you sit there wondering what all the fuss is about.
