GR86 What did you do with your GR86 today

Looks like an excellent job and I in no way wish to cast any aspersions about the quality of the work (which I am sure is faultless), but a TVR owner/enthusiast's notion of "factory fit" might well differ from others!

Like Andrew Tate's views on healthy relationships, or Jeffrey Epstein's on safeguarding
Ha Ha - I passed your comment on last night and he thought it was very funny!!
I declared the cover to my insurance yesterday and can you believe it had to go to the underwriters and came back as spoiler/aero...
Still better safe than sorry!

Trying to describe it to the chap on the phone was fairly entertaining as well..

Not exciting but I Air con bombed mine today. It has smelt musty for a while, I'm hoping this clears it up.

How's the cabin filter bearing up? Given the Summer we've had I wouldn't be surprised if it's full of insects and detritus ...

It can't be at its best, it's been very dry this summer in the south east, so I imagine it's full of dust pollen and all sorts.

Yeah, at less than a tenner and 5 minutes of your time it'd probably be worth popping a new one in...

Just changed mine to an all singing and dancing Mann equivalent. Would recommend, it’s much denser vs the basic standard item. I was impressed that the instructions even had correct photo guide.

Went for a drive this morning and it was cold....but I didn't hear the usual rattle or creak from the base of the A-pillar. So maybe the suede trim has finally stifled it \o/

Also, last night I removed my Cusco strut brace, as I think they are incompatible with the Nameless strut tower braces that should be arriving tomorrow. I've had it fitted for a year or so, but to be honest, been a bit dubious about how effective it is. And despite a spirited drive this morning, I couldn't really tell the difference with it off. Even the brakes felt about the same without the master cylinder brace. I know other people swear by strut braces, so I can only assume I'm just not really pushing the car hard enough on the road to feel the improvement, so I'll probably stick it up for sale soon. Probably more suited for a track driver.

Went for a drive this morning with @MartinT, had a short blast and ended at podium cafe. Unfortunately police closed down one of my usual routes and it seems that this is a regular event now to prevent dangerous driving. It's really a sad state of affair that the police resources are used this way.

@MartinT brz it's really nice though he is is a nice bloke too. Quite envious of the aluminium knuckles.

The police closed a road to prevent dangerous driving? That's mental.
Sorry, Reason: Urgent drainage maintenance

On my defense, I searched yesterday and didn't find any news other than some months ago there was cameras and police presence so I wrongly concluded this was a step over that.

Glad that was the case, I won't revisit those road until next year likely though

Yesterday, i decided to take the car out for a a run around some local twisties that i haven't really driven much before. Turns out they were a little too narrow and twisty to really enjoy the car, but it was still fun, despite the weather!

I had a bit of a squeaky bum moment when a Audi A1 came around a blind corner (left hand as I look at it) fully on the wrong side of the road. Their reaction times were Terrible, and despite me slowing to almost a complete stop, they didn't correct their trajectory until we were only a few feet apart, when they suddenly lurched over to their side. Having the front of my car nearly smashed in like that has made me reconsider taking it out on those roads / in those conditions.

Following that brief heart-in-mouth moment, the road opened up to something a little more familiar and I was able to enjoy the balance and thunder from the UEL manifolds, despite the soggy conditions.

I think I'm long overdue stretching the cars legs on a more well-sighted B-road. After reading recent posts in here, a loop round to Alston and back might be on the cards.

I drove some way behind a silver BRZ with a throaty exhaust yesterday on the A350 between Melksham and Chippenham. I was sitting uncomfortably in the car as I was wet through after a walk around Broughton Gifford and it was all I could do to concentrate on driving.

I had a very similar experience yesterday. Also on a left hand blind bend, except it was a Range Rover half on my side of the road. The driver just seemed to casually move back into his lane whereas I was ready to take avoiding action and emergency braking.

I follow the rule "always be able to stop in the distance you can see to be clear" however that is designed to deal with stationary objects / pedestriants / cyclists etc. out of sight round a blind bend. It doesn't help when a Range Rover is barrelling towards you at 50mph on your side of the road.

There is a 45° blind bend down our single-track lane where I live and, predictably, the vehicles that go charging around it are mostly white vans. I slow down considerably and drive wide to get the best sight lines but it's hard to believe how fast some drivers take that bend.

2nd service yesterday (8600 miles).
A good job again by RRG Toyota Rochdale.
As you'd hope given the (lack of) mileage there was nothing untoward to report.

Might want to check they have done the diff oil - quite a few owners seeing this getting missed. Mine was service on Friday and I'm pretty sure it wasn't done. I queried it with Toyota GB and this morning they confirmed it definitely should have been done, waiting for the dealership to get back to me about it.
