GR86 What did you do with your GR86 today

Trip across to Skidz (Falkirk) this morning for free coffee and to fix the TPMS. Probably call in at Hungry Hounds for some natural dog treats too! 🐶

Had my first service at 12 months (4500 miles) at RRG Toyota Rochdale.
Can't fault the experience:
Got a reminder/confirmation phone call on Friday.
Dropped the car off early and had a coffee, staff all very friendly and helpful.
Got a text with the inspection video showing the condition of tyres/brakes/suspension and also the service items to be used.
I had a named service contact all the way through, and he was 'GR aware' so to speak.
Definitely one of my better service experiences!
This was on a pre-paid service plan, so no cost on the day.
They suggested a fuel system clean for 20 quid but didn't push it when I said no thanks - just doesn't seem worth it for the mileage it's done.
Only downside was a nail in the rear nearside tyre, which is right next to the sidewall and therefore unrepairable...

Made the most of a sunny day - first polish and wax for this car since new - and probably the last for this year!

I was involved in a motorsport event over the weekend. I usually have a 4WD vehicle with decent ground clearance for these but it was poorly so my GR86 became an offroader :ROFLMAO:

I don't understand those "no reverse parking" or "reverse parking only" policies. It seems to me that it's just a reaction to an accident they've had before with no thought behind it.

Normally it's to prevent soot on the walls. Isn't an issue since particulate filters, but that would add complexity to the instruction :p
 
All Amazon distribution places seem to be 'Reverse Parking', which is probably safer come going-home time judging by the way they pour out of the place just up the road from me.
I think all US military bases (and a lot of ours) are reverse parking too? It certainly was in the Falklands - there's always time to reverse park, but when the siren sounds and you need to move out quickly, I wouldn't want to be waiting on a LWB Landrover full of squadies to do a 3-point reverse turn (doh!) :confused:

Better to go for blanket, nonsensical rules instead. Nothing worse than a jobs-worth insisting on reverse parking when you need regular access to the back of a van.

Reverse parking is safer, nose in to protect buildings. I think it's no more complicated than that.

Nearly took 2 spaces but being nice I didn't and I got back to a Citroen at a mad angle and I was convinced they would've dinged it to get out but couldn't see it at the time. That's frustrating. As soon as you spot them they seem to become blatantly obvious.

No issues at all. The guy sorting it said that it was a bit tricky because the dent was a bit sharp, and with it being smaller it was a bit harder to work with (ooh eer missus) but I can't tell where it was, even in harsh light. It took him about 45 minutes in the end, and that was with him polishing the paint as well.

When I used to visit customer sites, quite a few of those with a particular focus on safety and security (power stations, defence related etc.) had a 'reverse in' parking policy. The idea usually is that you will have had eyes on the space before reversing into it and nobody can 'appear' in that space during the manoeuvre, whereas reversing out you don't have that prior visibility, and there is likely to be traffic in the area you're reversing out into.
