GR86 What did you do with your GR86 today

Is it simply a case of contacting Toyota finance for a figure and paying it? I'll be doing this soon too.
I'm registered on the Toyota Finance portal thing so reasonably straightforward. I logged into my account and requested a settlement figure which gets generated instantly.

I then tried telephoning them to enquire how best to pay off, thinking this would be the easiest and most efficient approach. How wrong I was - there's a silly useless AI-generated voice-responsive Skynet wanky thing to get past - after I shouted "OPERATOR" at it enough times it deigned to allow me to join the queue to speak with a human. After finally being warned they were "exceptionally busy" and told it would be around thirty minutes holding, I gave up and sent a secure message on the aforementioned portal.

I asked for confirmation of the settlement figure and the account details for a BACS transfer payment as I didn't want to try and make a five-figure debit card payment. This arrived by secure message and I paid it using my banking website.

Took it for it's first proper drive this year yesterday, up to Grassington. Car felt good on the new tyres, didn't push too hard and really enjoyed it. Have missed this type of driving experience.
Also did an 8.5 mile walk too over to Conistone which was lovely.

Think I've managed to fix my creaky steering. Got in the car yesterday morning and it was silent....by the time I arrived at work, it was creaking. Bit weird, evidently something loosens up after a bit of driving. Had already ordered new drop links, but on a bit of a hunch, I jacked the car up and checked the metal undertray. Sure enough, most of the bolts weren't quite tight enough, one was almost only finger tight. Gave them all an ugga dugga or two, dropped the car, took it for a drive....silent. Must be because when I'd had it off, I'd used an impact driver just to whizz the bolts back in as it's quicker and more convenient, but forget to properly tighten them all...and I think the undertray on this car goes some way to stiffening the structure. Hopefully sorted now, will see after tomorrow's drive to work. At least I now have a set of brand drop links in the garage for when they inevitably fail.

Also, installed the STI exhaust hangars. Quick and cheap mod, will see if they help reduce exhaust noise in the cabin. And finally, I installed the XLR RaceChip throttle controller. Will update the main thread on that after a bit more driving.

Busy day :)

Tested new CS7 with highway driving to do a third service check. The feeling got much better, so hope the claim for the original 4 will be successful.

Above the regular oil change during the service check, I asked them to change diff oil, air filter and cabin filter.

And after a week with TMPS light on, I found a tire shop, which was able to code CUB sensors in 🤩

Please keep us updated regarding the hangers and let us know where you got them from.

So I've found a marginal improvement, but I think it will depend on your exhaust. I have the HKS Spec L2 which doesn't have any drone, but there is a little bit of boom of deceleration...I feel like the hangars have taken the edge off that. When you consider that they are attached directly to the floor of the boot, which essentially acts like a big drum, you can see why any little bit of isolation helps.

I wouldn't expect any miracles, but for the price and ease of fitment, it's worth a shot if you've got a resonant exhaust you want to tame a bit. I bought them from the below link, cost me £37 for 5 of them delivered, and took about 12 days to arrive. With the back of the car jacked up it probably took me no more than 15 mins to swap them over (exhaust hangar tool makes it much easier). Again this depends on your exhaust, the HKS doesn't have a large central back box which makes access a breeze.

Also l, I think the hangars might be slightly shorter, worth bearing in mind if your tips are already close the bumper. Didn't measure this to make sure though.

Still have those to try and refit. Expected it to be straightforward but ended up reverting as the door alignment was then out. Dealer had to realign as I suspect it was slightly out anyway as it's on like a plate that moves.

Had the Aircon serviced ready for the Show Season travel etc.. Two years sees around 10% loss, which isn’t bad at all. Car is good for another couple of years.
Exact figures were:
Gas recovered - 362g
Oil recovered - 4mL
Oil injected - 4mL
Gas injected - 400g

Did you find your AC not being as effective? I didn't think AC systems were meant to lose any gas, assuming they are used regularly.

AC was working fine. Did the service as it’s been 2 years since manufacture.
Even when used properly, modern systems can lose 10% per year, generally due to gasket play/shrinkage as they are exposed to seasonal temperature variations. The changes are microscopic, but still enough to allow gas to seep out. Some OEM allow up to 50% loss before being labelled a ‘problem’ 😳.
The guy said my 10% loss over 2 years was really good. He pulled a vacuum for 25 minutes with no issues/leaks noted. When I mentioned that I was gonna put an Aircon Bomb in the car after he'd finished, he gave a stern "Don't do that" and then went on to explain that they can damage the cabin filter because the spray is usually wet mist based and sticks to the filter's linings. So he gave me a complementary filter-friendly system clean and refresh (debug) in a scent of my choice - I went with sea-breeze 🌊. Anyhoo, car smells fresh and Aircon is topped up to max. 😎

Today Bert went for his 4th service at 30k miles, that might sound a little over indulgent on my part but he was in Thursday past for his 3rd service at my local dealer, had to book a collect for the Thursday as had some online work stuff to do prior to the Easter break, Bert departed at 9am and returned around 6, Friday was supposed to be Good but was quite bad for me as it took approx 7 hours to get Berts saddle realigned to my liking, Saturday came and I took the opportunity to check the oil where I settle Bert down for the night as it had been freshly changed and filled to the correct amount on the service and I could get my eye in on the dipstick, I was mildly concerned as the colour wasn't quite as golden as I was expecting, my thoughts leaning to "did they change the oil" when I ran a moist finger over the oil filter for it to return dusty confirming no oil change!! As it was only 10 am ish I called the dealer to dealer only to be forwarded to the service department twice with no reply and then I called every number they had to be greeted by an lovely lady that greeted with my name which I hadn't shared with them!! A further couple of hours ensued with numerous people that confirmed they didnt service Bert and that listening back to the call when I booked the service that I started the conversation "Good Morning, I would like to book a service please"!! It's been a path of fuckery today with the delightful service manager who was supposed to bring me a car out so I could go to work as per my contract of employment but didnt, anyhow!! Bert is serviced now and within 10k miles of the previous service but had to be parked all weekend to keep the warranty intact........Do all please check that the work you have paid for is carried out!!

Indeed, incredibly dishonest behaviour from the dealer (if you hadn't checked the oil / filter, would you have known anything was awry?). Name, shame, formal complaint.
