GR Yaris What did you do to your GR Yaris today?

This weekend I have

1. fitted my new number plate; settled on the 303 x 152 one in the end, drilled and bolted on.
2. washed it.
3. had it appreciated and complimented by jehovah witness.
4. driven it and got it dirty.
5. had my numberplate choice ridiculed by my son as it's too "JDM fanboi".

One thing that's becoming apparent is that my other half really likes the support from the seats. She has a bad back, so prefers that when we go anywhere, we take the Yaris. It's not really as suited to a day on the motorway as my Skoda Superb, but if it makes her happy...

New phone was the trigger for me finally getting a wireless CarPlay adapter. At the same time I changed the Brodit mount for a generic MagSafe-compatible one which I just stuck to the Brodit bracket. This is plugged into the 12 V socket.

Now all I do is sling the phone roughly at the mount and it starts charging, and CarPlay connects almost as fast as the cable. So far it's been great, only the tiniest bit of lag on the inputs sometimes, more than tolerable.

No cables, no faff. Happy!

Lets hope yours is better than mine.

I have nothing against cheap china stuff but it should at least be able to fulfill its main function. Mine constantly loses connection. Sometimes even every several minutes.
I still put up with it for now but I might just switch to wired again soon unless I can find an adapter that isn't plagued with those issues. Checking Amazon reviews shows that many of them do have those issues. Also a good lesson to not blindly trust an overall 4 star or above rating. Bought reviews seem to be more widespread than I thought.

Yeah, I waited until they were right down in price before taking a punt, just in case.

Have to say though, the one I’ve got seems to be pretty solid. In fact, I’ve had OEM CarPlay implementations which have been less reliable, both wired and wireless.

I also wanted a ‘USB stick’ form factor, not a dongle one. This one is pretty small too so fits neatly behind the 12 V adapter, leaving it all tidy.

Only made a few donuts on a newly discovered lonely and muddy patch of land and well...

The car is incredible really. Its ability to spray dirt everywhere is absolutely unmatched. Almost like it's purposefully designed to do so.
Unfortunately I do have a bit of a compulsive need to keep my cars relatively clean so after the fun comes the work 😩

I don't think there was ever a better chance of me buying one than this. Price, history, looks, modifications. It all checks out. It's even in the same city so I didn't have to do a several hours long drive like I usually have to do with cars that interest me.
Still it makes for an interesting dichotomy. If I would have went to same place as with the Yaris I would have had to call a tow company instead of having fun like I did. Looks like I once again have to think hard about what I actually want and value.

The correct answer is of course that you need both in your life/garage. 😁

Always happy to help with these life decisions.

Believe me I would if I would have the means for it. Unfortunately I'm not one those wealthy GR owners with huge collections.

But even if I would have the money for it. I'm the type of guy who prefers to have one "baby" that gets all the attention if you know what I mean. Never saw the need for multiple cars.

I understand, my GRY is the daily car and makes smile everyday.
