GR Yaris What did you do to your GR Yaris today?

Classic symptoms of bacteria and mold buildup on your evaporator and/or cabin filter.

As others have said, just leave the aircon on auto and you’ll never experience this. If the buildup is really bad then you might have to use an aircon bomb to sanitise it though.

I find it baffling that folk ever turn it off in modern cars. It barely has any measurable impact on economy, doesn’t affect performance one bit, but it *always* leads to this problem in damp, cooler climates.
Aws I said. Its on at all times. Auto all the way, baby!

But lately I have to put it in defogg mode (the front windscreen focus thingy), which I didn't need before.

Strange this. Ill give it a couple of weeks, then I guess I neet to check the filters.

This will always remain a mystery to me.... I have owned many cars and have never had fogged up windows, even though I NEVER turn the AC on, not even in the summer.

The opposite is true for my brother. If the AC isn't on he can't see anything... In all his cars so far.

Does that mean I am the devil and there is no lift moisture beside me?

I use this stuff

In other cars I always leave it in recirculation, but in te yaris it is 100% sure to steam up the windshield, so I now it is always fresh air

Odd, never felt any vibration from mine, might be something you'd want Toyota to look at. As for power loss, it switches off under WOT where it matters.
Only more obvious with the torque mount inserts.
I'm not WOT all the time.
Look guys it's probably just my insanity but I could feel the AC dragging the engine in every car I've owned.
I can live without it so I don't use it. YMMV

Could be a slightly dirtier windshield (interior). It definitely makes a difference-- I believe it's down to the greater number of nucleation sites the 'dirty' provides.

What did I do to my GR Yaris today?
I took advantage of the really bad weather and took it on its second drive out, since buying it last week!
I went to the Peak District and Cat and Fiddle area, as the roads are a little exciting. There was a lot of debris on the roads, bits of branches here and there and some bits of branches were unavoidable.
As it's nearly as standard as standard gets, here is what I think of it...
I like the travel of the standard suspension, there's lots of really fast compression areas and I never wanted to 'brace for impact' at speed.
The torque is impressive (and I've owned lots of v8's - RS4's etc, there's 2 still on the drive), the car is always 'on the boil' and ready to pull you along at pace.
The 'phoney' noise that's piped in, isn't a problem for me, the missus questioned it and insisted on opening the window as I accelerated along, so she could see what she could hear... the hair blowing around soon stopped that test! I don't see the need for a louder exhaust, I'm happy that people don't turnaround as I approach.. I'm old and don't particularly care for attention.
The brakes are great, they were needed after a sharp dipping left bend to a compression... a tipper truck oncoming and my side of the road flooded!
As for the usual YouTuber gripes, I'm not too tall and the seat position and screen/mirror placement is not really an issue.

It makes me grin.

Dislikes;
Having to wash it tomorrow.
The horn, my gosh it's lame, but comical.

Mods to date....
1. The big rally mudflaps, good to keep the outside less dirty and I love the 'rally look' (though satin black on a white car).
2. All-weather mats, my shoes/boots are usually muddy from shooting and the weather is usually crap, original mats look old and dirty and quickly look gammy.

Mods planned...
1. Wheels and tyres, I want a bigger sidewall, roads have craters, not potholes, nowadays.. and a set of track wheels/tyres.

Total mileage: 2,260.

Thanks for reading and inviting comments.

I turned that off. So much better.

I fitted the Land Cruiser upgraded horn kit (or whatever it's called).

It's marginally less embarrassing, but only marginally.

I'm finding the best approach is to look much further ahead, anticipate, and do everything I can to avoid using it.

Leave it dirty but fit the flaps, looks properly used and more rally that way!

I fitted an Airtec intercooler today. It took about 3 hours, going at a (very) leisurely pace.

Noticeably more turbo response, but the main reason I fitted it was for reduced heat soak (and power sap) in hot weather.
