GR Yaris What did you do to your GR Yaris today?

Took my life in my hands and had the main dealer down here (Yeomans Brighton) change the gbox/front diff oil (master tech as first time they'd been asked......) They did the transfer and rear diff previously. Just picked it up and all safely done it seems!! I'm on 25k miles now and must say gearbox does seem smoother on first drive.

Just washed the car and sealed it with A1 High End Spray Wax. I love this stuff. Just by touching you can feel how smooth the paint is after applying it.

Went to the dealer to grab an oil filter for when I fit the do88 intercooler and oil cooler I bought in the black Friday deals 15%off was too tempting.

Unfortunately it's lightly dented at the top looks as though during production as paint/anodisation (I think that's a word) isn't damaged

Contacted PFS parts who are a distributor for do88 in the UK who said to send them some photos and they'll arrange a replacement.
DO88 have apparently comeback and said they wouldn't usually replace for this issue as it doesn't affect function, IMO poor customer service from them tbh. contact at PFS is going to speak to them again, can't fault PFS.

I know I'm probably be being abit stubborn and while I get their point I refused a 'goodwill' payment if I was happy to keep the product, because I paid for a new product to arrive undamaged, am i being unreasonable? :ROFLMAO:.

they should update their product description then, that might come with dents. to me it is no brainer to exhange part to fault free if such is found. just damages their rep if not willing to do so.

Aye lucky I ordered with PFS rather than DO88 directly, they've been good to be fair and ordered a replacement and are going to check it when it gets to them.

I'm a plumber so if I fit a damaged bath and tell the customer it's ok as the damage doesn't affect its function , would that be OK?

Exactly! Or can you imagine taking delivery of your brand new GR and noticing a big dent on a panel and being told that it’s only superficial and won’t affect the performance in any way πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™‚οΈπŸ˜‚

So I'm going to go against the grain, but you do realise it's mounted behind the IC and there is no way in hell you are going to see that tiny dent?

It's like a plummer getting his work dismissed because the pipe behind the tiles is ugly, or that the invisible inside of your door panel has a paint blemish.

I think the functional argument is quite valid here, there is no aesthetic function for this part. I could argue it looks too good in general so you're getting expectations...

I'll take my coat... Seeya!
But also if you’re paying good money then you’re entitled to expect to receive something that isn’t damaged in any way. Shop soiled and items are often sold for less than RRP after all so it wouldn’t be unreasonable to ask for some money back for something that has arrived looking like that.

you can have your opinion

yes I realise where it's mounted, thank you.

As I stated in the first post about this it's minor, but I paid for a new product and expect it to arrive like so.

its shouldn't be too much to ask for as a customer for a replacement even if it is a minor defect.

this might be 1/100 they made like this but their attitude regarding it is terrible. they clearly can't stick to their own statement on their website. It'll be the first and last product I buy from them out of principle, it's poor attitude and certainly not excellent customer support.

How did you pay? Because Section 75 is exactly here for this. The item is not in good condition, at least, the condition you expected... an item advertised as high quality and has a defect is not imo high quality.

Can you return it or is there something in their return policy which would make it complicated? Would not bother to discuss with them such topics. Some companies use the Black Friday Deals to also get rid of exactly such products. :D

This has two parts.

The attitude of the buyer. And the attitude of the seller.

I agree it is poor customer service, if a customer unhappy, it is better to make them happy.

But you asked our opinion, and that is what you got from me. Edit: and it was wrong. Sorry.

I never said you weren't allowed one, it's the thinly veiled personal digs I don't appreciate whether you realise it comes across that way or not, and yet I'm the one acting like a child apparently πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ.

It's more hassle to return for a refund tbh, I want the part just not dented. PFS premises are only a 30 minute drive away so just going to exchange in person when the new one arrives in the new year to save having to arrange suitable delivery date due to work commitments ect

Anyway Ill leave it at that, threads been derailed abit sorry folks πŸ˜‰

Edit:
Apologies. I wasn't in a good mood. And I was also wrong, didn't look properly, it's the IC that is dented not the oil cooler and actually visible and the dent is quite long, I only noticed the little chip at first. I agree you have full reason to be unhappy. Again, I apologise.
