I bought my better half a helmet and took her to a Trackday. Both - the Mini and the GRY - are keepers now…. 😎

As someone who has hit a pheasant in a Mk One, I can confirm that the damage was considerably greater.

On a different note. I drove from Leeds to Lincolnshire yesterday mostly on the A1. The weather was atrocious with heavy rain, strong winds and a lot of standing water. I almost always drive in track mode (50-50 front rear) and stuck with it yesterday. I left all the nanny aids on and drove sensibly, rarely going above 60mph. I had no issues but would I have been better off in normal mode (60-40 front rear) with more weight over the front wheels? Grateful for views.

When you floor it, weight gets transferred to the rear, so not really, 50/50 is fine, I even prefer rear bias when it is a little bit slick on the roundabouts, I feel it gets around more agile like then.
 
Just had my 24,000 mile/2 year major service at FRF Toyota Swansea. My car is 3.5 years old and on 18,000 miles but they said it was due this service. £470 (gulp) but they did give it a good valet inside and out.

I also got them to confirm they had the correct spec oil - SAE 0W-20, API SP - part number 08880-86294 - and they did.

One thing that did come up is all four of my tyres (the original Michelin PS4S) are worn on the inside edge. They recommended replacement but I’ve already decided I’m trying the Continental SC7 next, due to reviews on here, the EVO test win and…they’re currently £109 fitted rather than £198 on Blackcircles.

I would like to get my tracking/alignment done but I’m not sure I trust a local tyre fitter to do this properly. I might see if Toyota Swansea can get me some Continentals and get them to do it.

I had wear front and rear on inner edges, very twitchy at high speed.
Turns out my car had excessive toe out front and rear, all even figures so not knocked out of alignment maybe suspension dropping or just plain out of spec from Toyota 🤔

Both fronts badly worn on inside edges with loads of wear left on the outside @ about 15,000.

Apparently that's not unusual.

4-wheel alignment done buy Chris Mullins in Gloucester who said they were a bit out but not massively.

Might be that inside edge scrubbed tyres is another cost of ownership...

I haven’t rotated them yet. I was going to at the last service but they’re all wearing by a similar amount, and in the same way.

I would have thought excessive negative camber would cause this wear, but toe out along with some camber will scrub the tyres too I guess.

I’m sure the handbook says rotate the wheels every 6000 miles. I do mine every 500.
 
Went to the dealer to grab an oil filter for when I fit the do88 intercooler and oil cooler I bought in the black Friday deals 15%off was too tempting.

Unfortunately it's lightly dented at the top looks as though during production as paint/anodisation (I think that's a word) isn't damaged

Contacted PFS parts who are a distributor for do88 in the UK who said to send them some photos and they'll arrange a replacement.

50/50 gives it a bit more balance in all conditions. It's especially good at this time of year with the temperature around zero, if it steps out then this setting pulls it back in. You can make the front wheels spin in 60/40, I rarely use that now.
