GR86 Sold Out!

Is it me or is it a bit hot in here...?

What Toyota say and what Toyota do are 2 very different things. We should all know this by now. I would take what's being said with a bit of salt, no disputing what people are being told, but its accuracy will always be in question.

Whether it is true or not regarding these cars Toyota really are going the extra mile to trash their own reputation with this and the contempt they are showing over the non existent alarm, what an absolute shitshow. Gotta be worth setting a up a Toyota facebook "fanpage" or should that be anti-fan page? :D

There are no new cars at discount for sale through Carwow. Only TOL are able to sell new/retail. This Carwow ‘glitch’ has been discussed elsewhere online (check FB groups) and within this forum. It has also been reported and action by TOL is in hand. Pre-owned however is a different matter 😉

I'm going to go against the grain here but I can't help thinking that it's up to Toyota to do what they want with the excess stock. If they have to discount to sell them that's their perogative.

I paid a price for a car, I was happy with at the time and was under no illusion that it would likely depreciate. The recent bubble of zero depreciation or even selling for overs, is exactly that - a bubble. In the current climate all cars are going to/are depreciating.

Just be thankful you haven't spent overs on a 100k+ Porsche recently!

My GR86 is like my wife and children. All terrible financial "investments" but, boy do I love them.

There does appear to be a dealer (Hills of Woodford) offering new and unregistered cars for £32k + paint. I got a message from them earlier this evening, seems legit but a small saving over RRP.

Have dropped a note to local dealer to see if they have access as well or if it is just Hills.

That was then, this is now. The dealer on Carwow replied to direct messages saying it was a mistake. Now they're saying that they have cars available.

 Any pics?
Terrible weather here, was dark when I got home but hopefully get a good look at it today and post up :)

Not great, but the extra allocation of cars that Toyota GB secured was probably organised in the Spring and given the sheer number on the waiting list, they probably thought they could easily sell them.

They hyped the fact it sold out quickly (i'm sure we played our part in that) and the interest in the car I guess helped secure more cars - in hindsight perhaps they should've brought in less, but with the GR Yaris success (originally 1500, reality 5k) they went for it and in turn helped lots on here who missed out secure a car.

6 months later it's a different economic landscape, cars are depreciating again, interest rates have risen and it looks like they've got the some left over that they must register this year due to legislation.

It won't be the last time a dealer or manufacturer discount a desirable car but the majority bought it because it was a great drivers car and not as an investment. Flippers will lose, drivers should enjoy it and move on.

We all want to get the best deal possible, but it doesn't always go to plan.

Don't they have until next June?

Indeed.

My car is on order and at the dealer, but not paid for and awaiting the scratch repair. I might head down tomorrow and see if the dealer has this offer on a different car. Toyota online don't work weekends, so I can't ask them about the new lower price.
