GR86 Sold Out!

I was told categorically by TOL last week that anybody who purchases a GR86 will be paying the RRP

We await the evidence from GR Duster.

They’ll be getting mine back or refunding the difference If they do decide to discount them …
Only if you find out within 2 weeks of your purchase. After then you can complain, but you won't have a leg to stand on.

I would wait for the facts before you all start bouncing off the limiter.

  • They could be all of your rejected cars
  • They may have been pre-registered
  • They may be what's left and discounted because Toyota need to register them this year and they can see the economy isn't what it was and need dealers to shift them

I doubt this is true, if it is, then it’s a nice opportunity to buy at that price. I paid £33,460 for mine but would keep mine as dont want to risk getting another defective car after my journey so far to save a few grand.

Would be curious to see any evidence / links though.

Voice of reason there 👍

What evidence is required?

Will that do?

Tbh I’m more disappointed with the current part ex values, hopefully they improve next year as currently it’s lost a fair bit in a handful of months

I suspect that may be because you could still buy one at the time. Toyota have stopped accepting new orders now. I expect prices to hold well now the cars are gone and next year can see values possibly raising slightly in the used market or at least stay above £30k.

I’ll be in no rush to sell mine, it’s too special to part with :-)

Hence my 'we await the evidence' post.

Er - that won't help. Most weren't rejected due to faults, but because people just changed their minds.

  • They may have been pre-registered
So?

  • They may be what's left and discounted because Toyota need to register them this year and they can see the economy isn't what it was and need dealers to shift them
So?

Who wouldn't take a £3k/£3.5k saving for a car registered a week ago?

Maybe, depending on where you got it from. Who sent you that, and how are they connected to Toyota?

And can you explain how it's possible to buy a new GR86 in Electric Blue, when none have been available in the UK since the first batch?

It's from a Toyota dealer.

Again, not sure why you think I would be making this up.

Who said they think you're making it up? You could have read it somewhere and believed it, but that doesn't mean it's true.

It is surprising that a dealer has told you that. And I personally can't understand where these new, unregistered Electric Blue's have appeared from.

No issues with the post, but plenty on here have been on the Toyota Roller Coaster since April '22. Add a link to a credible source, or when people contact Toyota tomorrow and it's confirmed to be legit, then thanks for sharing the scoop. People are just nervous, especially when it's about money or cars!

When I shared a second batch was coming in the Summer, people questioned it and it turned out to be accurate.

I know the journey people have been on. I threw the towel in and cancelled my car as Toyota have been shit. I've kept an eye on things since then.

I've shared a screen shot from a conversation with a Toyota dealer this evening. There is no way of adding a link. I've shared what I know.

50 cars. New. This price. These colours.

The dealer (or one of them) is Hills of Woodford Toyota. I have included a message from them in this thread confirming.

Doesn’t seem like much of a saving though, at least from them. Cost for Sapphire Blue.
