It doesn't make a difference, E5 seems to give higher mpg for me compared to E10.Treading very gingerly with the ol’ right foot in the current weather conditions, so I’m pretty sure there’s no point filling up with high octane for the foreseeable
The rangeometer predicted initially 337 miles and I need 342 to get home. However I made it with 42 miles spare, suggesting a total of 380 ish miles range at the mpg I was maintaining.

How did ceramic coating go? Which one etc?I've set my warning buzzer to 5.5k and I've not been over that. Given the book says it should do 32mpg so isn't that far off. My brother came home for Christmas and his average is 37mpg. If I got that I'd be very happy. I'm still taking it easy and getting used to the car. Coming from a bike all year, engine braking is quite weak but good for keeping momentum. Done just over 500 miles but that will calm down next month while it will be back to normal commuting (~100 mile a week) then a week when I get it detailed and coated.
I’ve been running on unleaded pretty much since October.. The car always felt a little harsh on acceleration.. she was almost empty when I filled up this Tuesday so I put super in.. the car feels much better and so far the average MPG seems a little better .. I may have to stick with it
I generally use Costco @Triggaaar as it’s pretty local.. the annoying thing is that our local branch (Chester) has a difference of ~10p between a litre of Unleaded and a litre of Super Unleaded.. at the branch near my Mum’s (Manchester) the difference is generally only about 4-5p.. I’m not there enough to take advantageUse something like Petrol Prices app to find the cheapest wherever you are. I never used it before having the 86, but the price differences for Super is crazy.
Yep I’d agree with that- in fact I just had a great drive this morning to meet a prospective client. Mostly nice flowing B-roads, lovely sunny coast road and a bit of motorway (would be a nice project, but not too bothered if I don’t get it as the drive was so good) av 36mpg, and all pretty sprightly driving…Went to Swindon and Bristol on Saturday, 270 mile round trip and was about 35mpg and I wasn't hanging about at times. The trick is to save it where you don't have an option not to, like catching traffic etc, average speed zones. I could swear it's better now than it was when I did my Scotland run last year so it's definitely still running in a bit. Even though the 86's main strength isn't motorways, it's by far the most stable and solid car I've driven on one.
It’s the average since reset, took me a while to work out how to reset it but you press and hold the centre button with the dot on it on the right hand side of the steering wheel. What range does the display's average refer to? I can't see how to reset it, so I don't know if mine is the average since new, or over the last few hundred miles or what?
Whoa mine must be broken 33 average drove it like miss daisy for a tank full once still only got 36. If I reset when on a motorway it will get high 30s but within a few minute of the motorway end it’s back down to 33/35.Gentle motorway drive, starting with Reading traffic I got over 40 MPG.
I usually get 27ish, but I have a heavy right foot.
