Biggest worry in purchasing was that car would drink fuel when not in fun mode, So after first 7000km I have averaged 6.9l per 100kms or 40.9MPG! (per the trip computer), Not sure if this is something to be proud of or ashamed of!

That has involved some massive trips from Sweden to U.K. and U.K to mid Spain. When driving very long distances I have always adopted a 'minimise effort' approach - it is just much less tiring to sit behind an HGV for a bit vs battling traffic. So these trips I guess spanned 80kph (German roadworks speed limit) back up to a normal 110kph cruise. I have also had some fun in the mountains of Northern Spain so not all motorway / boring stuff. Anyhow wallet pleased! I am going to tick the top button in the survey now.....

Very envious average speed as well. Mine's closer to half that :/ I had to drop out of the top button fairly quickly, but have remained in the next one since (just). It really does like long journeys though and the predicted range on a tank is pretty high these days (~350 indicated, ~400 if assume 50 usable litres)

I was 25-30 as I was around 29, but just hit 1000 miles and passed 30 (average since day one) after a 150 mile run with motorways..

However - I have now started to use the higher revs so I think it will fall below 30 again (very) soon.

600 mile round trip averaged around 39mpg, usual mpg is around 29mpg.

It's not a great car for long distances.

I did a 250 miles round trip up the A1 today to see the mighty Rovers and averaged out at 37.3 - according to the dash. Sorry about the poor quality shot . I haven't tried doing it the fuel calculation way yet.

My 5000+ miles average is a shade over 28 mpg, and I mostly do relatively short trips, but I managed to get 350 miles out of the tank to empty (average 37 mpg) after a recent trip to Simply Japanese.

New PB for me, 45mpg over 152 miles. The range estimate is hopeless and has no idea what's going on, still have 3/4 of a tank. 😅

Anyone who has been on the M25 and M1 recently will know how this isn't difficult to achieve.

I’m guessing all our cars do exactly the same MPG as each other, give-or-take, right? and this thread is showing us our different driving styles and journey types, not how efficient one car is compared to another (though 45mpg is kind of off the charts, eh? 😯)
I do feel that this isn’t an engine that is very happy under load below 2000rpm though, so personally I never change up gears early in a hypermile style. Hence the pretty poor average MPG I’m getting I suppose! but the engine does sound quite happy 😃

My average dropped to 31 yesterday, but I was "making considerable progress" to get a decent spot at C&M!

A year back I brimmed the tank set the trip and reset the MPG and then compared the two methods and it came out identical and I do mean identical not near enough. After that I just relied on the recorded MPG. Had a new 440 BMW for a day and clocked 150 miles and it was horrific on fuel yet there always people on line saying they get 40 on a run. Put what a I thought was enough fuel in for the day about 60 miles from home realized it need topping up put what I thought was more than enough and had to stop again all below 80 dual carriagway and motorway. Made the GR86 seem super economical.
I have finally got round to trying an economy run. Just coming onto a motorway slip road I rest it then over my 38 mile journey with 10 mile of A&B roads with very light traffic i got 47.1 average. That was sticking at 60 on the motorway and 50 on the B roads acceleration at glacial pace. Probably caused a few people to think Christ their right those GR86 really are slow. Then carried on driving in a similar manner for 2 day and 150 miles and average around 41mpg on the third day I was in Southampton city and it plummeted to 36 overall despite my best efforts. So I don’t have to hang up my string backed driving gloves after all. But I can confirm that anyone who is getting forty MPG has bought the wrong car you might as well have got Dacia duster or such like 😂

Forgot to add my normal average is 32 over 25 k miles I do use the full revs on a daily basis as it would be rude no too
