GR86 GR86 Gear Knob Thread

Fitted today.

Quality - Excellent, beautifully machined.
Weight - Feel’s slightly heavier

Haven’t driven the car with it fitted yet - yes it feels cool/cold to the touch but the aesthetics/feel/shape/ergonomics are good.

BTW the standard fit gear knob is a quality item.

70 miles scheduled for Friday - will share feedback on how it feels after that
Initial Impressions are it’s slightly heavier and a more pleasant experience in use.

Seems to warm quickly so no issues with temperature and I prefer the machined metal feel.

The aesthetics are lovely.

All subjective - no doubt there will be more discerning among us who can share their evaluation.

Overall 100% happy with the purchase.

Could I ask where you bought it from?

I think the same - the short teardrop doesn’t require an adaptor. The others do.
Yeah, I bought the sphere and in my usual pre-work early morning rush did not read the website correctly and I do need that adapter I did not order. Which you cannot seem to order separately. Let's see how my email to Billetworkz is handled. There is a hint and tip for anything thinking of ordering, read the site well dependant on which shape you wish to purchase. 😁🤦

Thinking about the velocity font but then looks like you can't get the GR logo with it

Can I ask OP how they got the GR86 logo added, there only appears to be an option for a general GR logo only?
Cheers.
I emailed the nice people at Billetworkz and asked if they would put the logo on the side for me. I’d had a gear knob from them previously for another car, with the standard shift pattern on it, which I felt didn’t stand out enough for my taste. I wanted the velocity pattern and the new GR logo, so they said as long as I could provide them with the logo, they were happy to put it on for me.

Thanks, snap I was looking at the nice velocity font and Gr too. Cheers.

Not when the gear knob is sitting on the table in front of me! No customs charges incurred though!
And the adaptor thingy has arrived and no customs charges again either. Might get this bad boy fitted today and go for a wee hoon. Must admit, I am liking the engine noise with the K&N air filter fitted. Just ever so slightly different, and better for it.

I finally received my Billetworkz knob ordered in the last Black Friday sale.

I chose the cheapest and slowest shipping method, which took 16 days from the order to delivery. It was marked as a gift, so no custom charges.

For reference, it's the black GR-engraved lighbulb model with the optional reverse lockout adapter. Total cost was £109.80 with the adapter and shipping after the 20% discount.

The quality is great, and it feels a little bit easier and less notchy to shift gears now. No doubt supported by its heavier weight (470g vs around 200g for the stock knob)

Realised I’d forgotten to post a pic of my new gear knob in this thread. Also obtained with Black Friday discount code. Hyper Blue, Short Teardrop shape, so no lockout adapter required. Note to self, use proper spanners during install, not grips (as they mark the collar nut). Observation: It’s bloody cold to the touch when the weather is freezing outside! 🥶
