How long are you pressing it for? You have to hold it for a couple of seconds.

I think you can change the behaviour in Techstream. Pretty sure I saw options for having it work on hold for 1 sec (default), single press or double press.

Ok so I've lost track of this, what's the definitive guide for getting Toyota to program windows down on key and unlock all doors not just drivers.

Going to try and get them to do it again at first service 😂

Unlocking Doors: It's under the [Body Electrical] [Body Control] Sections, then using the yellow [Utility] button you can select [Unit Customising], which gives you a dropdown list wherein you can select [Driver's Door Unlock Selection] = ALL and [Select Unlock Switch] = ALL. Once changes are made click [Next] to save.

Windows from Fob: Same sections. Dropdown option [Remote Key link Power Window Setting] = from 'No Support' to Support.

Obviously if that's what you want, you go for it, but personally I can't see the point, given that it's keyless entry. Drivers side and passenger side, just put your hand in the handle, wait a split second, and it's unlocked. I find it easier than getting the key out of my pocket, pressing a button, and putting the key back in my pocket.

Yes, but by default, only the door you touch the handle of unlocks. So if you have a passenger, you have to get your key out of your pocket anyway to double-click the fob (as again, by default a single click only unlocks one door), or, get in, and lean over/press the unlock button inside.

Several times I invoked the wrath of SWMBO when I jumped in the car and wondered why she was just stood there like a lemon and not getting in the car. I've not changed it so both doors unlock at the same time, whether that's because I've put my hand in the handle of one of them, or just pressed unlock on the fob once.

I think mine is default and that's not how mine works. If I go to the drivers side and put my hand by handle, only that door unlocks, but the passenger only has to do the same thing - put their hand by the handle and their side will also unlock.

Mine was the same as @Conscript describes - admittedly I didn't experiment very much, I just enabled the global unlock in TechStream, but my impression was the passenger door would only unlock if they had also a keyfob in range...

When you say 'in range', do you mean the key has to be next to the door you're unlocking? If so, then I guess it won't work. I thought the car either sees the key, or it doesn't, I didn't realise the car cared exactly which part of the car the key was near.

Yes, I believe that's how it works - the various receivers establish where the fob is, near the door(s), in the cabin, in the boot etc.

I can't test it now as I've changed the behaviour, but I think @midlife_sportscar has covered it above. The car detects not just the key, but where it is - or at least mine did. So I would go to the driver's door, key in pocket, and put my hand in the handle...drivers door unlocked. Girlfriend standing on the other side, with no key - door wouldn't unlock for her. So if we were both going out together, I used to have to remember to use the fob and press it twice to unlock both doors.

Damn - apologies, I stand corrected then. When I tested it I had the key in my pocket. I assumed that all the different receivers were just to make sure the car knew the key was there somewhere, not that it cared exactly where it is.

Opening the driver door and then pressing the unlock button that's on the door is probably the easiest option then.

Impatient girlfriends may still disagree :D
That's why I changed it so both doors always unlock simultaneously, so I can no longer be accused of reverse chivalry by only unlocking and opening my own door.

Or you do the gentlemanly thing and open her door for her allowing her to get in gracefully. Then go get in your door. ;) (y)

Away from all the chat about doors, that’s a nice precise for the masses, thank you. Anyone that need to, can direct a Toyota Master Tech to this info.

There seems to be a theme that Toyota UK don’t see reason to teach Subaru code tech to staff 🫤
