GR86 Coding via service departments.

People keep on mentioning some functional coding that Toyota can do via the dealers service department. However there is a flaw, I’ve seen a few posts mentioning that some service departments struggle to find the menus to adapt functions.

Could I suggest we have a list of functions that can be adapted / turned off or on, and if anyone gets it done- could they post up details of the menu index and sub sections.

This should mean we all get an idea of what can be changed (such as both doors opening, windows close on fob, mirrors closing on fob) and how the service departments do the work.

I’m pretty sure walking in with a list of known improvements, and how they need to code / access the menus to make the adjustments, will make life easier for all 👍

So please post up any work you have had done, and if you can, how they did it. Thank you.
 
My car is booked in tomorrow for the recall, and I intend to ask them to enable some features as per the manual:
- Unlock both doors when touching the driver's door handle.
- Roll windows down when holding unlock on fob.

I know some people have had this done, and other's have dealers just tell them it can't be done because they can't find it in the settings.
If anyone knows exactly where those settings are in the software they use, please let us know. I'd really like to just tell them "look here" so I don't get a phone call later saying "the settings don't exist" .
 
Well, looks like I won't be getting this done for a while still. The service manager just called me and apparently, the recall work was already done on my vehicle prior to delivery....so no need for me to go to the dealership tomorrow. I have made an enquiry about getting parking sensors installed at some point, so will probably wait until that's done to get these features enabled now.
 
They don't seem to have done my doors, even though I asked. Windows have been though. It's in next week to replace the vent cover so I'll be asking again. What annoys me is they didn't give me the paperwork when I collected as it's only sales in. Took them 20mins to find my key! They said they'd post them oout but still nothing, unless the postie is still on strike.

My dealer said the same but somehow it's still showing as outstanding on the gov website, so either they're confusing the recalls (EBC vs DCM) or they haven't updated their records, as I've collected the car almost 3 months ago now.

Either way, worth asking them to double check and update the service record.

Yes, I noticed the same. I thought I'd give it a couple of weeks and then confirm with them if it still hadn't been updated.
I'd forgotten about the EBC recalls, so when she said "it was done before delivery" I didn't even twig she couldn't have mean the one I had the letter for.
 
Has anyone managed to get the "Both doors unlocked" from the key yet?
My local service department has tried again whilst fitting the reversing sensors and have admitted defeat.
 
I really want all doors unlocked from the handle. When I get in I want my passengers to be able to too. They did say the fob does it but I'll need to test again. Windows on fob definitely works

I think I read somewhere (maybe on the US forum) that the only way to unlock both doors from the key fob was to click unlock twice - no way to make it do it on one click. That's not too bad though because if you've got the key in your hand, having to click the button twice is no real hardship and doesn't really add much delay.

Having only the one door unlock when pulling the handle is most annoying though - no quick way to work around that other than pulling the key out of your pocket (negating the point of keyless entry) or getting into the car and hitting the unlock button like some peasant - both of which take enough precious seconds to enrage a suitably impatient significant other left standing in the cold.
 
If the coding can’t be done, here‘s how to open the 2nd door via key.

You can also get in the car and hitvthe unlock door button (which on UK cars should be the drivers side of the gear stick8.

Well done, how’s about writing up a “how too”, on the assumption that even without Techstream, an owners can ask Toyota to sort it?

I’m starting to think the lack of ability to do these soft codes via dealers tech is because GR86 is Subaru software, not Toyota

I don’t have the car with me now. I will post some pic later.
But to be honest, not too much we can adjust in there. I want the locking beep, however I still can’t find where is it hiding at the software.

I don't know if it's just me, but on rare occasion the keyless entry works for both me and the passenger.

Most of the time it only opens the side you're on though. Very annoying.

I think this only applies to US spec cars and isn't featured in the UK owner's manual.

LOL oh right, I had no idea that was a feature. Had no clue about the blind spot detection on the wing mirrors either.

Yeah, my 20 year old celica didnt have any of this new tech, will take some getting used to.

According to manual published by our very own @AndyRC, cars without double locking system have this feature.
Our cars have double locking system as stated on driver side window.
