GR Yaris Balance of tuning and durability limits

So his conclusion is that MK2 cars have zero engine issues simply because, based on the limited releases so far, no one has reported any—yet. That’s laughable logic.

Guy's a proper d@%k, He's just full of scammy ideas that he tries to sell to people. He's probably left Italy because he had to.

Maybe he could start his own line of clothing,

Good article but, other than reference to an intercooler, I'm surprised there's not more content relating to heat management, oil cooler, vents etc

Maybe it is how you use the car. On track or 30min autobahn blast its evident you benefit from improved cooling.
It was just about getting hp out from engine.

Hm, are those claims about the eventuri intake backed ?

If yes, this intake + HJS downpipe already give you close to 290hp from the 261 stock ...

Yes. Tegiwa I think got 13-15bhp from it.

I have a gen2. It wasn’t Dyno’d stock so there is a bit of unknown but with eventuri it did make 15bhp more than standard.

Not sure you can simply add them upp, but both relieve the work of the turbo by improving the compressor (intake) and turbine (cat) pressure ratios, hence reducing turbo work, opening the wastegate more and reducing backpressure, making more power without changing anything else (boost, fuel or timing).

If you don't want the noise of the Eventuri, a Forge inlet duct (IAT lowering) and intake hose and elbow (lower pressure loss) had a similar effect on mine.

Is there much in the way of educated opinion on the rev limit for a stock bottom end?
I had mine revving to 7.5k with no issues. That's with Kelford valve springs, A cams, and Denstoj rocker retainers. There was power all the way through too with my other mods.

That was until the oil filter fell off on a track day 1850 miles after service at Toyota Llandudno 🤬🤬

Sorry to hear about dropping oil at the track. Did you manage to save the engine in time? 7500rpm was the number I had in mind coincidentally.

Unfortunately not 😢 there was major scoring in one of the cylinders due to oil starvation so it's being rebuilt with a whole new forged bottom end.

Dealer denied any responsibility of course, as "you need to see it from our point of view, we can't prove nobody else has been under your car" so my word wasn't good enough despite using them for years before this. I'm still fuming 😡 they tried to catch me out by asking when my fancy (Rotheli) oil pan was fitted, which was 6 months before the service in question and shows the attention to detail we're dealing with here from their "head technician".

I can only recommend avoiding Premier Toyota in Llandudno if you like having oil in your engine 🤬

There are very few main dealers I would trust unequivocally these days.
Ford should be ashamed of some of their so-called technicians.
Arnold Clarks diagnosed a damaged dual mass flywheel issue when it was a simple cv joint on a driveshaft on my work van.

Sorry for derailing the thread there guys. As I said - still fuming 😄😩

@Boosted8 for what it's worth, I ran the 7.5k limit for pretty much bang on a year and did about 6k miles in that time plus a few track days (car is around 45k). So take that for what it is - it might have ran for years or maybe it was about to pop in a whole more exciting way!! YMMV
