Yep, I second that. I unplugged mine last week after a year of daily driving with it connected. In spite of being ‘ideologically opposed’ to the concept of the fake noise, I actually thought it sounded pretty good. I just unplugged it on a whim out of interest. But I’ve got to say I 100% prefer it without. I think the actual engine noise suits the car really well - it’s deffo not as quiet as I thought it’d be and it’s got quite a hard edge which is cool.
I also hadn’t realised that the augmented sound was so present during cruising phase - it seems far more civilised at constant speeds, which obvs helps daily use.
Maybe most importantly (as referenced in above post) with the sound module activated there seems to have been a sort of blurring of input from your right foot to engine RPM. The connection feels much more direct now. It’s a top mod - wish I’d done it sooner✌️
 
I've said this before but I'll say it again. When you've driven the car without it for a while, the noise of the sound generator is hilariously stupid. It's like one of those old top gear episodes where they sabotage each other's cars so they make funny noises.
 
I had mine switch off today at the dealer. It sounds so much better without it. I can’t believe I put up with the terrible fake noise for so long 😂
 
I’ve finally heard this awful sound after my run in period has been completed.
Does anyone know exactly what the dealer does compared to unplugging it?

They disable it through Toyota's Techstream. This can be done by anyone with a laptop, VCI connector and the relevant software. I've done it on several members' vehicles when we've met up locally. It takes me less than 10 minutes to disable the ESG, add 'Windows up/down by Keyfob', enable 'Unlock both Driver+Passenger Doors', as well as disabling the annoying 'Automatic Aircon'.

I can do it for you using the software if you're in the area any time?

Mind you, I simply unplugged mine, it was very quick and easy.

It's somewhere within the walls of this forum, but for your convenience I've inserted an image below.
Once you've navigated to the Air Conditioning section within Techstream put the following settings to 'User Select'. That will ensure that your AC is fully manual.

Pretty sure my windows tended to mist up fairly quickly whenever I’ve had the AC turned off
 
Unplugged mine a week before fitting the Remark axle-back and the combo was transformational. It's much easier to judge gear changes and heal and toe downshifts and overall makes the car more pleasant to drive. Turning it off on its own was a tad quiet for me but I definitely prefered the lack of "mooing". A slightly fruitier exhaust is a must IMO.

Just to say I had mine done at Toyota in Milton Keynes. No charge.. So much better afterwards!
 
Unplugged mine about a month ago and found the car too quiet. There’s very little induction or exhaust noise so what you’re left with is the sound of the actual engine (mechanical), which isn’t a particularly nice sound or one that encourages you to rev it out.

Spent a month looking at exhausts and induction kits. The dealer seemed pretty relaxed about either and said there was no impact on warranty.

I’d love the infinity intake but can’t justify the cost. I’d also love the ctek exhaust but likewise the cost is steep (5% of the cost of the whole car, for a cat-back exhaust).

So sound generator plugged back in today and I’m enjoying driving it again.

Not the popular opinion but it’d be boring if we were all the same.
