GR86 GR86 Space saver?

This would give you back that space if you wanted something tailor fitted. The two cars have the same shape boot.

Hi Ritch
Do you think that would fit over the full-size wheel or is made for the space saver. GT 86 never had 18s or did they

From the reviews of the part.

I managed to find a used Impreza STI one on Ebay, which came with the same Brembo's I fitted to my car. It was a little bit tired so I put a lick of gloss black on the hubside of it. I fitted it face side down into the boot, which meant it sat around 1cm lower than the surrounding foam inserts containing the jack etc.

The jack looks like new and was from a GT86 and I got it from EBAY sent from Poland, I think it was £35.

The wheel holder was just a bodge of parts I found in my tub of nuts and bolts. It ain't pretty but it does its job.

To overcome the 1cm gap (and stop the carpeted floor from sagging) I ordered some cut to size closed cell foam (£13.50 del). However, the foam was not as rigid as I expected and really needs a centre support so when I get some time I'll cut out polystyrene block (maybe even use Kingspan) that will go over the holding spindle and support the grey foam circle.

I had exactly the same problem. I put a circle of, I think, 2 inch foam under the wheel and screwed the clamp down until the wheel was at the right height. My son is an upholster so has a selection of foam offcuts!

I haven't loaded the boot with heavy stuff since, but it resists a good "press" from above.

They have sent me completely the wrong wheel
This is quite a frequent occurrence with ‘Spare Wheel King’. I wouldn’t be surprised if your email goes unanswered. Here’s hoping that they actually do something for you with regards to a replacement…🤞🏻

Measure the centre bore, and diagonally across from one stud hole to the 3rd, this should be 100mm.
you cant measure this way, as for 5 stud there is no opposite hole. This explains it much better than I can!

Double checked my spare from SpareWheelKing this morning. It fits!

I'll be looking for an 18" spacesaver soon as I don't really feel at ease travelling with just a can of deodorant in the boot.

Did you use different nuts to attach the wheel? I put on the space-saver when I took a wheel off my former GT86 for refurb and the nuts only just reached the bottom of the bolt thread when tightened. The 5th nut I used was the locking wheel nut, but I didn't realise it had an even shorter thread and when I came to replace the original wheel after two very hot days, I found that the top of the locking nut had pinged off and landed a foot away!

Fortunately, I'd left the car on the drive and not driven it. I had to use an angle grinder and stilsons to get the remaining bit off. From the pics, it looks the weld had rusted.

One of the reasons that the first thing I remove from a new car are the locking wheel nuts. I’ve had many a stranding because they’ve either broken or the key way has stripped. I think the locking nuts nowadays really are made of cheese.

No, I used the same nuts. They tightened up ok. But, I didn't put the wheel on the ground to fully tighten them up. It felt like there was sufficient thread left to be able to do that without any problems.

And yes, I have had issues with locking wheel nuts breaking in the past. Had to get one drilled off on my last car!

For anybody who already has their car (replying to this post to avoid starting a new thread), can you tell me where the socket is likely to be for the locking wheel nuts?

It's not in the grey plastic box with the four removed standard wheel nuts and no sign in the boot. I did get a complete set of new locking wheel nuts with the socket which were in the car but it's not the same as the locks that are currently fitted.

I'll ask at the dealer on Tuesday if there is no other logical place for the wheel nut socket to be

Does anyone know the part number for the gt86 emergency jack? I already have a spare wheel and fits in the well fine - just missing the jack but haven't been able to locate the right one that'll fit into the cutout so far
