GR Yaris The waiting game...

It just depends in which country you order. Swedish guys dont have to wait for long aswell. Im waiting since 17 month now and the car will probably arrive after 18 month.

Called again today, because it's nearly September. Dealer has no other notice than arriving in September ... he said toyota won't give tracking codes anymore because of so many complaining and trying to force by lawyer... 🙄

If it's really 18 month I have still 6 going. Jeez.

I am on the same boat, ordered early July and still waiting. The Type R has been on my mind as well. If there was an easy way to sell my purchase contract to someone else I would think about it. Then again the industry is in such a bad shape finding a good car for a decent price is pretty hard and I firmly believe we are getting a bargain with our GR Yaris orders.

I looked into buying a temporary car realizing Yaris wasn't coming anytime soon and even used cars got too expensive imo. So I signed a 6 month rental deal(car subscription) with an option to prolong it in case Yaris gets delayed even more. If it wasn't for the sweet flexibility of the subscription I would have had a much harder time waiting for the Yaris. So I don't know if you have any other cars at the moment or do you need one right now but I would advice looking into Car subscription services with 6 months long offerings.

10 months ago? How did you manage that. Most of us are well over a year.
Yeah it probably has something to do with how many are sold/allocated to a particular country. I'm from Finland so probably very few sold, since they cost so much here. Well, all cars are super expensive here.

if you have any other cars
Driving our Volvo V40 at the moment. It's a good car. Quiet, safe, planted, efficient on long journeys. Objectively a good car. I just can't get used to it even after some years it feels to heavy and the engine is like all the other 2.0 boosted standard in line 4. Torque as he'll but in upper rpm band it feels horrible. The car made me realise I am weighting drive train and handling way more than comfort and practicality. Therefore the decision for the GRY 😉 It's luxurious problem, I know.

Just keep waiting, just keep waiting..

Going to feel nice getting the GRY.

The car I "subscribed to" is a 2022 Peugeot 308 SW. The problem is we started loving the wagon, how spacious and nice it is on the inside with all the latest tech. Many times we had the whole car packed. So going from that to a tiny Yaris will be a challenge. Power/drivetrain of the 1.5 diesel Peugeot is as boring as it gets so I will get over it after a ride or two in the Yaris for sure. I am not sure if "look how good it drives" will be enough to impress my gf though 🙃

Absolutely with you. My perfect set up would be the GRY and a corolla hybrid wagon. One for whenever I like to drive and one for duty jobs.

But maybe I can afford both, but I just don't want to. So much money that can be spent elsewhere with more positive impact. I don't like compromise cars like the Golf GTI that try to do both but don't a go full hearted one way. So I have to decide between one way or the other. I don't want to spend money and time on a car just don't really enjoy driving. Every bill, every tank stop feels a punch in the face. But when you love your car it's more like feeding your dog. Sure it does cost but it's absolutely worth it. I just want positive feelings after all. 😀

My honey is like, it has 4 wheels and doors, must be a car. So that's no problem. She just didn't liked our company eUP! Because it felt so unsafe.
After all I am paying the party so I decide what music is played. That's our deal. 😆

I have a good setup for my situation. I have the GRY for all solo adventures and the family (wife, kid and dog) have a Tesla X with enough room for a platoon and their equipment. So I feel like I have one car i each end of the scale. One huge, one small. One electric, one turbocharged petrol.

Should have ordered sooner, some of us have owned the car for 18+ months ;)

What I would say is even if you did order a Type R the lead time would be longer than your Yaris.
I got a “reservation” down with Honda. They reckon once you get a proper deposit down (est Sept/Oct) you should get your car Jan/Feb.

It's kind of interesting. In Switzerland there are about 90 GRY for sale Online. I went to the Toyota dealer, made a testdrive bought it and picked it up 1 Day later. And i paid 5000 Chf. under the list price with 1000km

There are plenty for sale in UK on Auto Trader but all trading above RRP. One from a "Specialist" has been there for 2 months at £39995...

Think the Toyota up the road from me had two GRs for literally six months. Disappeared now but think they might have been rotated to another dealer.

I'm close to two years from knowing about the car and starting the process. I waited for a demonstrator to show up, was all booked in for December, then we got the Christmas lockdown. Literally the day before. Got in almost as soon as I could post lockdown, then placed the order. So I'm only really a month or so off two years now

Im Germany are quite some on sale, but pretty high mark ups. About 46k EUR for new ones and 40k for typical 1 year 10k km. I am sorry but I absolutely can not afford 45k when I had ordered for 37 700 eur.

It's a damn up and down roller coaster... one day you think I can't wait, I need dat car. The other you tell your self it was a foolish idea to order one .. xD

Oh, did I mentioned, that the dealer send me a mail? He told me there is no possibility the car would arrive in September as told over the entire last year... he said he won't give any date at the moment because the toyota network will not give any information yet. I have to "wait till it arrives or cancel the order". Uhm sure... and dealer sells car for 45 k eur when arriving. I got the feeling this is the plan with the 37k orders from last year after all. Cook the customer with the waiting time. If he drops, take the car and sell it for far more.

Exactly what they probably want to do if you cancel. Don't. Just sit it out :D

I'll do. Others that ordered from Germany had to wait about 18 months. So I guess it will eventually arrive spring. To bad I will miss some slides this winter. 😀
