Electric Cars

That's why I prefer my wind up watch. I quite enjoy not having the range time anxiety that quartz watch owners endure.

(I do really have a wind up watch)

Ordered a Model Y in April for June delivery, that was then put back by Tesla to September and then again last week till October. I wouldn’t mind but for two points; the trade-in value on my Model 3 is only valid until July 4th meaning because Tesla can’t fulfil the order in time I am to be caned when I try and trade the car in later this year. That’s a bit unfair? I offered to give them the car now, but no, they won’t take it until the Y turns up. Not my problem surely! 3 years of being a Tesla customer and this is the first time I’m pissed off with their customer service. Might as well cancel the Y and keep the 3.

The second point is that two friends of mine ordered Tesla’s the same week when I ordered the Y in April. One is getting hers next week and the other is getting his the week after that.

Meh,
Ive me GR yaris, habe a RAV4 Plug in Hybrid (fill it up with petrol every 6 weeks.. The plug in Hybrid is amazing) and ive got a Toyota bz4x on order for the missus, we charge at home, so it 60 miles cost 5 euros/pounds. For comparisons, her mini costs 14.., my GR what.. 20ish pounds for 60miles/100kms.. So it's a financial decision.. The RAV and the bz4x do the motoring, the other cars are just for weekends..

In Norway they have the most BEVs, electricity is much cheaper there meaning more savings, and the gov incentive is higher

Do they buy EVs to save the environment? f**k nö, it's to save money.

Who buys an EV to save the World?!?

Once the tax breaks go and road charging is introduced to replace the lost fuel duty I do wonder how the population will feel about being forced out of their cheap ICE cars into much more expensive BEV vehicles. Good thing the cost of living is so low and wages outstrip inflation…

Some of the ones that bought them before it was economically beneficial or practical. And still some that do so today but you haven't asked every single one, right? Would you even believe them?

What about me, that wanted to buy an EV and a GRY? What easy to stereotype category does that fit in?

The majority is steered with incentives, incentives they may or may not agree with. If the same majority really deeply are against this, it won't last politically. But the majority aren't usually the ones that you hear yelling or whatever the analogy of that is on social media....

Watched that live wow that is quick the acceleration from standing is immense.

I could 100% get behind having a BEV, but not currently without having an interesting ICE car too, the current BEV range is incredibly dull, literally white goods on wheels, but they do genuinely have many advantages.

Range anxiety is a behavioural and culture issue, how often do we complete a journey beyond the typical range of an EV? Rarely, unless your job dictates it. We are all used to convening in the same location to replenish our ICE cars, not a problem for a BEV, you don't have to store 000's of gallons of fuel underground, charging points can go anywhere and they will, this is new tech, its growing all the time. OK, so you have on street parking, does that really matter if charging points are dotted literally everywhere? Anywhere you can park a car you can have a charge point, they take up next to no space, we will get used to charging our cars in a multitude of locations, before you know it will become quaint having to visit a specific location to put a liquid into you car.

TBH I quite like the planet we live on, its the only one we've got, we should be responsible.

Let’s not forget that latest BEV technology can use the battery to store electricity you can generate from solar panels on your roof and save you having to buy a storage battery 🤔. Test drive booked in bZ4X on 1st July to see what the Toyota offering is like 👍

Missus bought herself a 40KW used Leaf a few months ago and hasn't looked back. We use it a lot more than the GRY and it does 99% of the journeys we use a car for and it is v efficient compared to many newer electric cars. The Leaf has a constant 4miles per KW range so good for 150miles.

I can highly recommend it as a second car.

I thought bZ4X was a code name they give to prototypes, sort of like E46 for BMW's from the mid 2000's, I have bought printers with better names than that.

bZ = beyond zero (impact?), they will all be named like that
4 = size, like id.4 kinda
X = Cross over

To be honest, I'm not really a fan of electric cars. I like cars like Mazda BT 50 and in general everything from this line. I even think about buying such a used car. I was told that the main thing when buying is to know exactly why you need a pickup truck. And remember it is not a jeep, but a truck with a big interior and good, but not outstanding and moreover not extreme off-road capabilities.
