GR86 What did you do with your GR86 today

It's was great to put a face to the name today. It's awesome to ride in other people's car, it's interesting how a few subtle mods add up to a noticeable difference. @Conscript is gonna cost me some money, that infinity intake sounds the nuts 😅

Great to meet you. Glad I got to hear the C-TEC in person and satisfy myself that while great, it's not so much better than my HKS that I'd swap. I'd probably pick it over the HKS if I was still OEM, but I was a bit worried I'd hear it then be off spending mega money again just so I didn't miss out :D

Here's the same picture from the other side.

Took the 86 round knockhill yesterday, enjoyed the day - quite a few red flags, but nothing major of note, mostly easily towed mechanical issues.

Oil cooler next on the list to fit and my tyres are definitely on their way out, a good day out. Had friends with a GRY and Supra so we had the trifecta out, fair few yarises on the track. Just couldn't nail the hairpin!
Next time, take the hairpin extreme right and cut right through it. Watch old BTCC racing on YouTube and you'll see what I mean 😁

@Conscript is yours lowered? If so looks absolutely spot on

Nope. Stock suspension. Tyres are 225, so maybe the sidewall looks a little squarer giving the impression of sitting lower?
If not, maybe something is broken.
Its @ZN8 's photo with yours on the right that looks like it. I'm also 225/40 on 18's too but i think sometimes if there's a slight incline makes it look slightly lowered.
Anyway.....looks good!

Well 22,000 miles in and although I've waiver slightly lately, still don't know what would replace it. It got a quick wash and spruce up today, but TBH I'm knackered after continuing to empty my late Dads house - who knew you could fit so much in a bungalow (second skip coming Tuesday)

Discovered a paint defect near the bonnet! Will try and get it sorted under warranty - anyone else had issues?

More details here.

Booked it in for a service... despite it doing just over 1,000 miles since the last one..

They confirmed on the phone what is actually included in a service:

Intermediate Service:

  • Health Check
  • Oil
  • Oil filter
  • Screen wash
  • Pollen filter

Full Service

  • Health Check
  • Oil
  • Oil filter
  • Screen wash
  • Pollen filter
  • Change key for batteries
  • Air filter
  • Brake fluid
Both feature a complimentary wash.
Side note as part of the health check they mess up your tyre presures I'ver asked them not to:
  • Adjust tyre presures
  • Wash it
  • top up washer fluid
  • change pollen filter
  • change brake fluid (already changed to Millers)
Can't really leave a note to say "don't sit on the bolsters or bash the plastics"...

Quoted price was £545 inc parts, I assume it'll be fractionally less as I have asked for stuff to be omitted.

It's early bnut I'm trying to move the service interval forward to avoid driving on gritted roads.

Yes, the 2 year/20k full service should have diff oil included, but the dealerships don’t seem to see it on the list of consumables when they book the car in, despite it being listed on the Toyota web site when booking the service. I had to email Toyota GB who confirmed to the dealership that it should be included, and I got booked in 2 weeks later to get it done. Fortunately I had another warranty job done on the same day.

I’m fairly sure mine wasn’t done back in January, didn’t see anything diff related on the invoice. Probably too late to ask now with my 3rd year service incoming!

Not strictly "today," but I took the opportunity to get out for a blast on Saturday evening. It's the first time in a while that I've been out in cooler temperatures. I'm not sure if it was the darkness or cooler / slightly damp in places road surface accentuating the feeling of speed, but the car felt quicker than I remember. In fact really strong and healthy. I had a great time.

I read on a US forum that these cars pull timing quite aggressively as IATs rise. should this be so noticeable? Maybe it was just me. Either way, the car drove great and sounds flippin' awesome blasting up a hillside on a cool autumn night.
