GR Yaris Yaris GR Seat Lowering Kit comparison

I fitted my SWM front and passenger kits today. Took about 4 hours in all.

Overall I'm chuffed. I wouldn't say it's game changing - it's only about 3cm after all - but definitely a noticeable improvement in driving position for me. Much better for passengers too - puts the passenger seat about where the driver's used to be at its lowest.

Driver's side went really smoothly, no problems at all.

The passenger side was much more fiddly owing to the tilt-slide mechanism. I also had a small tolerance problem on the front left of the upper mounting plate and had to cut a little notch out of it with a hack saw.

No biggie though and overall the kit does what it says on the tin. As others have said, there's superfluous trim afterwards but nothing damaged or cut so can easily go back to OEM.

According to my bathroom scales (that I've always assumed over-read :), 8kg a side excluding the handles and nuts & bolts.

For info I have noticed this bulge on the driver's seat trim after lowering with the SWM kit. It's been caused when the seat is at its lowest by the trim resting on one of the bolts that join the upper mounting plate to the seat. Could easily have been avoided by shortening the bolt by 5mm or so.

Cheers
Matt

The part number for that bit of trim is 71811-K0050-C0 and I've just taken a punt on ordering it from here:

Part only around £16.50 but no postage cost as yet - will be interesting to see what happens :)

The discount code is "GRZOO" as you can see in the first post in the linked thread.
Currently there is a discount for "BUY DRIVER & PASSENGER SAVE 20%"

Applying the "GRZOO" code overrides it instead of adding to the discount, so be carefull

Hi, newcomer here with the pre-facelift GRY.

I love the car, but I'm almost 2 meters tall and for daily driving, the seating position is just bad. Junctions = head to the windshield just to be able to see traffic lights.

From what I've read here, the SW kit seems to be what I want. It's cheap, installation looks straight-forward and there's no drilling, cutting or liquid-metal-epoxy-glue nonsense. Being able to fully revert to OEM is paramount to me.

I'm a little worried about safety/insurance/warranty concerns - it's not a cosmetic element, it's structurally crucial to passenger safety. For example, the Germans are notoriously pedantic about this, with their TUV certifications and so on. But it does look chunky enough and I don't care about the weight, so I'm inclined to give it a shot.

Before I do, I've reached out to my Toyota dealer to inquire about how the lowered seats are done in the facelifted GRY. If it happens that the seats are identical and so are the chassis bolt-points, then maybe it's possible to just buy the new mounting bracket directly from Toyota. I would certainly prefer to do that. I will post any findings once I get a reply.

OK, no surprising news here: dealer claims that the post-facelift mounting kit is not available by itself, only as part of an entire new seat. Which costs ~1800 eur. As for compatibility, he said the only way of finding out for sure is to actually order the whole thing. Shame.

Seems like the facelift version uses the same mounting kit as pre-facelift, judging by part numbers.
Will be interesting to find out how they lowered the seats on MK2.

Where did you find genuine parts list with numbers for mk2 yaris? Is the catalog out somewhere?

I will call bullshit on that, looking in Microcat it is a seperate part with a seperate code, and before dealer discounts the part costs 558 EUR
part code 72020-47361

it is also same but also different available for some variation

I'm pretty confident that they changed the floor in the mk2, cutting off the raised mounting points that the seat sliders are bolted to in the mk1, and making the mounting points flush with the floor.

Can
Part Number 72020-47361 seems to be the same for both MK1/MK2 in Microcat.

Can you please point me to where I can find the part numbers for the switches for the heated steering wheel and heated seats in the new car, as well as the steering wheel clock spring? In France we do not get those options (again), so I plan to transfer the parts I already retrofitted in my MK1, but I want to make sure they are the same first. I'm already sure the heated seat switches are different, so I will need to order those, but perhaps the steering wheel clock spring and switch are the same.
