GR86 What did you do with your GR86 today

Today I took the car to run some errands, using the longer scenic routes.

I hadn't driven it for 10 days due to work and being away at the weekend etc., so it was lovely to get out for a bit of a drive. This combination of moderate use and the (generally accepted) overall brilliance of the car means that each time I do use the car it feels really special.

I usually join a good, sweeping, fast road close to where I live and whenever I do, I get a sense of wellbeing ('Parklife!', etc.).

As is predominantly the case, these drives can be enhanced or diminished by other road users. On the negative side, I had two cars pull out in front of me on a dual carriageway, both dangerously so, without warning, and requiring evasive action. One was a Merc C-Class Coupe or whatever they are called nowadays (the bloated-looking one) with a stupidly-spaced private plate and tinted windows, the other was a Focus ST estate of all things, driven by a man with a silly big hipster beard and skin fade haircut combination like it was 2016.

On the positive side, I came across an MX-5 RF with the roof open being driven by a woman in a fantastic shimmering gold hijab which complemented the Soul Red of the paintwork, being driven with such vigour and precision I had to work really hard to keep up. She gave a cheery wave as we went our separate ways. I then went to fill up with V-Power at my local Shell, and shared a moment of mutual vehicular appreciation with a bloke driving an immaculate, gorgeous Ferrari 360.

Any excuse to take it for a spin today.
Haircut first thing accompanied by a complement from another customer. (he used to own an MR2)

Quick spin over to my mum's to show it off. She seemed suitably impressed. Said it looked smaller in person.

Kids wanted KFC this evening....

So out we go again, daughter starts faffing about getting her phone connected to the Bluetooth, very distracting and annoying. And then we had to put up with Taylor Swift blasting out!

She said it was like being in the batmobile 😆. I guess the curves on the bonnet and it being black does give it that certain look from inside the cabin looking forward. Son fitted successfuly in the back seat, not sure I could squeeze a fourth behind me though..

New car smell replaced by the smell of fried chicken 🤦.

You are a braver man than me! My cars are a no food zone, and if you’ve just had fast food you better go wash those greasy mitts!

Made my old man eat his croissant in the parking lot before getting in the car 😂
there was no consumption in the car, they had to wait until we got home.

It is with great pleasure to inform you that I officially belong to the "is that a Supra?!" club now 😎

I parked the car in front of a shopping center and a group of three people walked past me with curious looks. The only lady of them stepped up and asked "excuse me, is that a Supra?" and it was obvious she did not meant this as a joke. I told her that is a GR86 which is like the little brother to the Supra. Her facial expression was priceless. She had definitely absolutely no idea what I was talking about 😄

One mile remaining as I pulled up on my drive, best I go back out!

I've heard it a couple of times from Toyota now. Once from the online team same again from the dealership. Both said it was 1000km run in. Not miles.

That's weird, looking in the manual (page 131) section 4-1 it says 1600km (1000 miles) - I just checked the manual in Swedish and it refers to the same 1600km. I've a couple of posts with 1000km oil change mentioned recently though 🙃

It's 1000 miles

I hope my fellow attendees appreciate this. I had to battle through the mother of all hangovers after indulging in an unholy combination of various IPAs and subsequent tequilas last night.
After all of that IPA, I think they'll find it even more amusing if you shart as you heave yourself out of the vehicle...
