Severe case of garage & lift envy
Thank you, people think I am joking when I say I bought the house for the garage.
The lift was actually not that bad. I think all in to have the lift, delivery and installation was about ยฃ2.2k but that was about 7 years ago now.
Its a great problem to have, love my Jap cars too, we are on our 7th MX5.
Never seen a Garage though with nothing in it but cars!
I just always find Jap cars easy to love, as a whole, they just feel way more characterful than they should do! This is my first and hopefully last MX5, I think whilst I have the space it will be here forever. Cost very little to run and keep going, and very easy to work on. Did a full year 0 service on it last year, all fluids, water pump, timing belt, seals etc, and I think it was less than ยฃ200. Im hoping the GR86 will bring much of the same feeling, but easier to live with as a daily driver.
Thing is, we can't actually see the top of the lift - there could be another 12 storeys to it! What else have you got stacked up there? It must be like Tetris if the car you need is at the higher level ...
Senior Moment: I seem to remember the 70s BBC Series 'Butterflies' had scenes where they were always having to shuffle several cars about on a driveway just to get to the one they wanted?
I wish, that would be the dream! Unfortunately the next story up goes into my living room and whilst I would love to have a car on display up there im not sure itโs super practical! I just borrow a slot in the old manโs garage for the extras

.
It can be annoying if the car you want is on the top, especially if you find out the battery for the bottom car died because you didnโt disconnect it properly, then also forgot there was a metal beam above your head when you promptly stand up to get the charger. Itโs at that point you decide ah f**k it, Iโll take the RX7, not fully realising that itโs a rotary and hates you so only works at a time that suits it. But apart from that itโs itโs a slick and seamless experienceโฆ.
