GR86 What did you do with your GR86 today

I'm in the doghouse, comrades.

Just been out to the cinema with my partner (The Wicker Man 4k final cut, if you are interested), and took the GR86.

On the way back we came across a lovely Ferrari F355 GTS, and, as he was driving with 'enthusiasm', I decided to as well and we had a little play.

I was probably driving with more vigour then I normally do when said partner is in the car, and she's now Very Disappointed and Angry. (The phrase "driving like a t**t" may have been aimed in my general direction.)

Note this was all at legal speeds and perfectly safe.

Is there any hope for me, or will I too find myself being burnt alive in a wooden contraption? (Don't moan about the spoiler, the film's fifty years old for goodness sake)

With the pumped in sound generator you may have misheard her saying ‘your driving is a treat’?

Plus dogs are always happy. Being in their house must be glorious?

I admire your optimism sir; a positive spin on my travails!

An update:

Firstly, I am still alive - which is nice.

Rather than the angry bollocking last night, I had a brief period of simmering disappointment this morning so I think we are over the worst.

One quote: "You were driving like a t**t, and I don't want to be sitting next to someone who is a t**t".

So it looks like there will be a lot more solo driving from now on - every cloud, comrades!!

Ahh, but this is where you can get a bit philosophical over linguistic ambiguity.

You might have been driving like a t**t....but does that actually mean you are a t**t? I don't think a lawyer would say so.

Or, yeah...just go on your own next time :p

An excellent point.

Was it Forrest Gump that (almost) said "t**t is as t**t does"?

It's all subjective anyway. I'm sure many of our enthusiastic-driving comrades would have found last's night's brief bursts of enthusiasm quite acceptable.

Got someone to come out for a valet, and it’s now gleaming in the sunshine again! 😍

£45 for in/out and ceramic top-up, which took him about two hours.

Noticed a light scratch on interior trim next to seat heating buttons. Any recommended products/fixes?

Maybe change your username to Silver t**t for a month as a forfeit and grand apologetic gesture 😂
A worthy suggestion, but I do feel that I may incur the wrath of even our admirably light-touch and reasonable moderation team.

As a compromise, I will perhaps add something to my signature.

Oh dear! That is some harsh feedback 😂

The most I get is half excited half concerned woooooo!

Have you explained that you were simply trying to ascertain the coat hook situation?

Ah yes, didn't think of that! Just trying to get a close look at the 355's apparel-hanging arrangements.

Being Italian, I'm sure they've thought of such matters.

Today I added a tray in front of the gear shifter. Ordered Juni 10th, delivered today. Part will be sent from China via a local distributor, no custom fees for me and Germany. You can find it here.

Bye for now Fred

Looks nice... seems pretty cheap for that amount of work.
Yeah, honestly a bargain. Apparently he only charges £35 if you opt out of the ceramic top up. I initially booked with him as he was one of the few that have their own tank and generator which I don't have access to.

He came to my office and I kept looking out the window thinking surely he can't still be going it was only £45.

Plan to do that one every 6 weeks and just snow roam and rinse from BP stations in between.

Big fan of the contrasting spoiler there. Is it the standard duckbill?

Thanks! Yep, I opted for a black one, which is the same paint as the wing mirrors FYI.

It does look a bit 'fat' from some angles, there's aftermarket solutions if you want a thinner spoiler, but I have zero regrets as I want to keep it as OEM as possible.

Today I fitted my freshly acquired boot closing strap.

For those concerned or intimidated by this task, please read on below to see how someone with moderate at best tinkering skills and (perhaps more crucially) practically zero patience can carry out this task easily on even an uncomfortably hot (26 degrees) day.

I prepared my essential kit. This is all excellently described in @PVGR 's thread, apart from the strong black coffee which is the author's own. Trim remover is part of a set of four available from Amazon for a few quid.

This is the kit as delivered.

Before we start, I spot a gift from the local bird life. I may have sworn here.

IMG_20230625_113110061_HDR.jpg

Sorted. Now I can get on with the bloody job I came out to do in the first place!

IMG_20230625_113249175_HDR.jpg

Off come the seven clips nice and easy.

This is the inside of the boot liner. Sticker information might come in handy if you need another one for any reason.

At this point comrades, a couple of walkers came past my house and engaged me in tedious discourse whilst I was trying to concentrate on my essential task! Having the boot open provided me with useful cover to carry out cathartic gesturing whilst doing my best to encourage them to sod off.

IMG_20230625_114201256_HDR.jpg

In it goes. This is potentially the trickiest part as you need to have fingers that ain't too sausage-esque to get behind the metal and stretch a little to reach the hole without dropping anything. Deep breath, bit of patience, and no distractions (see above) and you'll be fine.

Follow @PVGR 's excellent and concise guidance rather than my inane wafflings and you'll end up here.

Again, I followed the guide and ended up here. Perfect.

A very brief moment of panic comrades; I had a clip left and was thinking about how you should be worried if you put something back together and have bits left over. Then I remembered WHY there was a clip left (durrr) and bagged it up for emergencies.

IMG_20230625_121600597_HDR.webp

All done. #proudofmyself

An unexpected bonus: If you encounter any issues which mean, for example, you are forced to place your companion in the boot, they will be able to pull the boot closed themselves!!

Anyway, now time for a well earned lunchtime treat. Have a pleasant afternoon, all!
