GR86 What did you do with your GR86 today

Why did they refuse to come out?
Apparently they don’t come out for repairs if they’re replacing the windscreen. I even offered to pay privately if it was an insurance issue.

So got someone out. I asked him to also apply some resin on the rest of it, he wasn’t sure it would set, but was nice enough to apply it anyway if I was happy to clean it off after it cured in an hour. Very happy with the results.

Well a busy weekend, car wise. Saturday, visited RRG Toyota in Macclesfield for the fitting of a Cobra Sport resonated cat-back exhaust from their GR86 demonstrator (noticed that I'd done about 38mpg on the approx. 290 mile journey).

Today, got the squashed wildlife off the front:

and started a quick polish . . .

Sounds good, not ridiculously loud, and much better than the stock exhaust.

Fantastic- and looks like you got a good deal✌️
Sounds very promising! Ok on cold start even? If it’s not to much of a pain could you post any more clips of it revving / running??

Couldn't resist the urge to start fiddling with stuff that I did on the old car too. Made a slight adjustment to the clutch pedal, half a turn clockwise of the rod attaching it to the master cylinder. It's taken out a little of the free play at the top of the pedal, subtley affecting the bite point. I was always tinkering with this on the GT, so I'll no doubt be the same with this car, but so far, I think it feels a little smoother and easier pulling away.

I'm also considering changing my clutch pedal spring again. I bought the Lee Spring alterative which was closest in strength to the MTEC spring; it's a big improvement, but I think I might try and even weaker spring, basically just strong enough to keep the pedal up when released. I reckon that might improve the feedback even more. Lots of US owners removed the spring entirely so the only feedback you get is from the clutch plate itself - but of course, you end up with absolutely no free play and a sloppy pedal.

I have a Lee Spring at home which is 75% weaker than the stock one if you're interested? Model number is LC095L02M.

Ooo, maybe....did you try that one as well first?
I wouldn't mind experimenting (just need to work up the courage to get upside down in the footwell again :D )

No I couldn't be bothered with the hassle of getting the pedal back out so stuck with the first one which I put in :ROFLMAO: . Let me know whenever, its not going anywhere.

Hi @Conscript could you point me to any pictures of info on how to adjust the rod to master cylinder please? Sounds like its an easy thing to try and improve clutch feel?

Probably best to look at my post in the clutch pedal thread, think I covered everything there and there's a useful video there, which probably gives a better description than anything I said :)

Perfect thank you :-)

Looks great, noticed any difference in steering or turn in?
Maybe a little bit better feedback during turn in - but I didn't have much time yesterday to take it to any twisties to really tell. What's nice that there seems to be no additional NVH with just this strut bar installed. Will see how things are after coilovers install.

I'm in the doghouse, comrades.

Just been out to the cinema with my partner (The Wicker Man 4k final cut, if you are interested), and took the GR86.

On the way back we came across a lovely Ferrari F355 GTS, and, as he was driving with 'enthusiasm', I decided to as well and we had a little play.

I was probably driving with more vigour then I normally do when said partner is in the car, and she's now Very Disappointed and Angry. (The phrase "driving like a t**t" may have been aimed in my general direction.)

Note this was all at legal speeds and perfectly safe.

Is there any hope for me, or will I too find myself being burnt alive in a wooden contraption? (Don't moan about the spoiler, the film's fifty years old for goodness sake)
