GR86 What did you do with your GR86 today

I just booked. I did one many moons ago (nearly 20 years ago!) in my Ford Puma when I tagged along on an MX5 forum day and it was a lot of fun.

Bit of a trek for me unfortunately - but this is exactly what I need, safe environment for learning.
 
Had a puncture repair yesterday and a test run early this morning to check the pressure is holding up.

Yesterday I took a trip with my son to McLaren in Hatfield. As I pulled in there was someone filming the cars coming and going and he spent a good bit of time filming my GR!

I spoke to a couple of McLaren owners, sat in a few and saw a Senna in the showroom. I didn't realise until I was there that Aston Martin, Jaguar, Bentley, Ferrari, Lamborghini and Maserati also have showroom in the same location so we had a good couple of hours walking round.

Now a couple of annoyances. Firstly, my son noticed that the passenger side window switch doesn't work and I'm not sure it ever has. I can drop the window from the driver's side switch so only a minor issue. I'll add that to the list of things to be done including the recall, auto door lock, windows open on fob etc.

Secondly, I let the fuel range get to zero as I know from experience that there's at least 5 or 6 litres left in the tank when it hits 0 (assuming the tank is a true 50 litres). As I was heading to the petrol station, the power just dissappeared above 3000rpm. It assume the car had entered some kind of limp home mode which was quite disconcerting. There was nothing on the dash to indicate what was happening and at first I though I was imagining it. Once I filled up, the car was back to normal.

I got 314 miles out of that tank - 31.8mpg.

There should be a button on the driver's side window switch controls which locks out the passenger window switch. Check you haven't accidentally knocked that first. Happened a few times to me with the old car too, luckily worked it out before I went storming into the dealership.

What an idiot I am. :)

I probably pressed it whilst trying to unlock the passenger door.
 
I spent considerable amount of time last couple of days and designed a slim and beautifully integrated MagSafe phone holder for the GR86. It works with the original Apple MagSafe charger or 3rd party chargers with same diameter (56.5 mm).
The base is printed in TPU to allow it to flex slightly for a secure fit without scratching the interior or needing adhesives. Use the integrated cable holder and then route the cable under and behind the glove box into the 12 V socket.
The mount is angled 30 degrees and can hold a normal sized iPhone both in portrait and landscape position without interference (tested with a iPhone 13).

After waiting for parts since the start of March my replacement headlight washer nozzle and cover has been fitted by the dealers today.
I could also do with touch-up paint - is the dealer the best source ?

I got my touch up paint from the official Toyota shop on ebay for £8.99.
 
Installed a dashcam yesterday. It's a VIOFO A119 V3. Was on lightning deal on Amazon for £86 and is one that does get recommended. Was all set for Garmin but the one I wanted was twice the price and spec wise is about the same. I do often say buy cheap pay twice but we'll see. All dashcams are generally crap anyway but on defaults it seems fine. May change it to 1080p and 60fps to get it even smoother but is OK as is. Make out plates and faces fine. It's FOV is 140. While you can go wider you get more of a fish eye effect and this can affect plate legibility. Plus as the still shows it covers the whole road fine. Lots of bits for fitting in the box
