GR86 What did you do with your GR86 today

I tried topping up the tank today as it was only one bar and 16miles range left, but it only took 25 litres in and when I got inside I saw this.

This is also after my recent trip, when I was running out of fuel and stopped at BP on the M1 as an emergency. And I swear it only only went from 2miles of range to about 26, when I topped with 10l of petrol…

This is probably a stuck sensor but posting to see if anyone else experienced this.

I've had a few times when filling up where the pump has clicked off early, and I've had to adjust the fuel nozzle to keep filling the car. I figured that it just more sensitive than most. Could the same have happened here? Did you just fill it until it clicked and then no more?

I took the nozzle out and tried 3 times, it clicked pretty much immediately.

Torridon - Inverness today to complete the NC500 loop! The weather wasn’t too bad in the main but unfortunately most of the Bealach Na Ba was shrouded in mist/cloud!

Can’t complain given the weather we’ve had most of the trip but I felt for the group of 20+ Z4’s (model shared with the Supra) from the Netherlands. Quite a few of them braved the conditions and kept the roof down but it’s a shame the weather wasn’t better for them.

Called into supplying dealer to get the brake fluid changed (they ‘forgot’ to do it as part of 2nd annual service a couple of weeks ago) no matter cos they gave the keys of this chappie to amuse myself while they did the work.
2021 / 26k miles circuit pack. Sketchy looking wheels + scorpion exhaust. They ‘ran the numbers’ and said it’d be a straight swap for my 86 (currently on 17k miles)
Actually seems like an ok deal, no??

Price for similar seems to be around £25-27k on Autotrader - I'd want the original OEM wheels though, as they are difficult to procure and expensive too.

Fitted a set of 'replica' Formula steel concealed heptagon wheel nuts that I bought from JDM Performance. I'm still undecided on whether they'll stay as the quality and robustness of the materials isn't what I'd call the best (I'll not be shopping there again). Given my concerns about robustness, I took the precation of using copperlube in the threads and dropped the torque to reduce the likelihood of dissimilar metal cold-welding come removal time. I also learned that having closed caps makes regular torque checking a right pita and takes around 10x longer to complete!

I can't make my mind up whether i love or hate these. They certainly add a bit of flair. My red anodized extended wheel nuts have lost some of their coating and are going a bit rusty now :( have you had much luck keeping coloured wheel nuts looking fresh?

.. have you had much luck keeping coloured wheel nuts looking fresh?
To be honest, no. The coatings don't seem to withstand the application of a Torque wrench, even when done progressively by hand. After a couple of weeks and exposure to the UK weather I can see traces of rust inside all of my coloured Tuner Nuts. Black ones fair the worst. Silver Steel are the most durable. One of the reasons I thought I'd try these concealed ones, which have a coloured alloy insert and rubber washer to keep the weather out. BTW, a proper set of the Formula Nuts by 'Rays' costs around £275, which is why I thought I'd experiment and get a feel with something cheaper first. It turns out genuine Rays only come in Black, Blue and Red, so any other colours out there are fake. At least mine were actually constructed from some form of metal and not alloy (like the majority on AliExpress) - I tested them all with a magnet to be sure ...:geek:

Yeah, I hear you. The original Yaris wheels are great. Similar design to ours but forged, right? What’s not to like 🤷‍♂️
Price to change (zero) seemed reasonable though, given mine is currently bang on £24k as a trade in or WBAC

I’ve just received an email from Rays (UK) and they now have new versions of the Formula Nuts, still internally driven, but they are now black with colour accents in either red, blue, black, silver or orange. I might splash out, but it’s a toss-up between blue and orange for me depending on what to ‘match’ with, car or wheels. I’ll have to confirm material first though, as I prefer metal to aluminium…🤔
Edit: Found it - SCM435 Chromoly. That'll do pig.... Set bought @ £103 from Part-Box (their official outlet) with free next day delivery. Worries over.

Inverness - Edinburgh, last leg of our road trip. 🙁 The sun came out again which was nice. 932 miles all in and the car was faultless. Must be time to start planning the next one 😀 oh and wash the car!

You are a man of many nuts!

I’ll tell you what I did today: cleaned bird sh1t off my car as I do every other day lately. Clearly there is a curried bird feed van nearby with a dubious food hygiene rating. We’ve all been there, in human form.

BTW, Gtechniq clear ceramic spray is ideal for such tasks. First go: get it wet/loose. Second go: wipe clean. Third go: buff dry.

I feel your pain! This morning my bonnet looked like a whole ice-cream cone had been dropped on it. Thankfully I keep a hosepipe close by for such emergencies ... Feckin' seagulls
