GR86 What did you do with your GR86 today

Completed a full day’s Detailing Training in the beautiful countryside on the shores of Loch Leven. Covered every aspect including Machine Polishing and Ceramic Coating. The two sh*t boxes that we worked on looked the absolute business by the end! 🤩
Even got a surtufikit for framing too!

Absolutely raging. Went to pick up my son from his mums and some c*nt parked their POS Range Rover next to me so I struggled to get the car out without hitting it. Was concentrating so hard not hitting the front of the car on said POS I completely misjudged the fence behind me. Was literally creeping in reverse.

Thought I had f*cked the paint but when I got home I hit it with a clay bar.
Absolutely no damage to the paint or bumper. Must have all been on top of the paint.
It’s been ceramic coated so I think that helped protect the surface.

Close call there.

I think they're magnets for it.

Glad the car is OK - that ceramic coating deserves a pint!

That X6 (had to zoom in on the badge to be sure) is, by some measure, one of the most preposterous, ridiculous, aesthetically offensive cars - no, THINGS - I have ever seen.

i can't possibly imagine, after considering all the available alternatives, why anyone with any functioning eyesight at all, and/or who isn't sectionable under the Mental Health Act, would actively CHOOSE that horrorshow monstrosity.

Parks like a w**ker n'all.

Amazing people actually pay all that money to drive around in a hideous piece of 💩. I couldn’t think of anything worse to drive around in.

Good save there with the clay bar, I wouldn't have thought of that 👍

That was a close call. Glad it came off/there was no damage. This is one of the reasons why I wanted to retro fit the parking sensors that come on the automatics (just don’t like the look of the ones that Toyota ordinarily fit). It seems that it can’t be done - I even went so far as to email Subaru Japan. There was a kit (posted on here somewhere) that actually sits behind the bumper - so no drilling etc required 🤔

Tbh I’m normally really careful. It was just the predicament I was in. I was just too focused with the front of the car. I thought the fence was further away than it was.
Next time I’ll be constantly watching front and back.

I was looking at no hole parking sensors. IBeam looks good but I couldn't find much about how effective they are online. Proxel is another but after some research I decided against these. I wish the iBeam ones had more reviews.

Just something to consider - was having a chat with a fellow GR86 owner the other day who mentioned that the screen on his reverse camera froze momentarily when he was reversing. He was convinced that he was closer (to whatever it was) than his camera suggested and so he ‘manually’ checked. Just as well he did 🙄
