GR86 What did you do with your GR86 today

Honister pass a good road to drive? Never found the lakes good for driving.
Hartside pass is awesome (assuming you mean the one in the Pennines?) !
Honister Pass is very bumpy and narrow, so not that good for driving.
Hartside Pass is brilliant. But today was foggy (edit, cloudy) at the top.. so no photo.

Thinking of getting the dealer to switch mine off when its in for its first service, do they charge for turning it off?
I got it done as part of a 6 month safety check. Cost me £67 as I've got the service plan. The only reason I had this check was to get the fake noise switched off. TBH a bit of a rip off and I certainly won't be having further safety checks but worth it to get it switched off.

I've since done 400 miles in the last few days and it makes the drive so much more 'comfortable' and I can still hear a natural roar when I put my foot down.

Goodwood at dawn, dodging deer in the early morning mist and sunshine.

d’86 perfect but Breakfast Club gates opened at 8am so I didn’t hang about. [Pathetic, GRRC should call it a lunch club @%$&!]

Highlights were the three GR86 [2 Dark Blue, One Black] three white & one red GRYaris and a Silver Supra - all travelling south on the A286 as I headed home.

Another weekend and another road trip up to Yorkshire, 3 times in 6 weeks, the 86 now has a bit more soul 👌down shift pops and crackles are addictive!

Nice, guessing that yours was the car Ctek posted in the exhaust thread then? Would love to hear your detailed thoughts on it when you get a chance.

And if you expand the photo, you can see that the car by the bridge has umm.. had a moment. No idea how it happened, but it is very steep and suddenly gets narrow.
Eek! I gave up and turned back on the Hardnott Pass in a DC2 Integra 🫣

I live in the lakes and have to deal with these muppets every day. Hope you managed to have a nice drive and avoid the bank-holiday gaggle.

Yeah, nice drive thanks. It was Sat morning with a friend who knows the road. It wasn't busy. Did have a few hill starts to deal with when going up. Liberal use of the throttle and a steady foot on the clutch needed. The hill hold certain came in handy.

It was your influence + feedback from the member who got a PAX ride in yours that did it. Therefore…when my neighbours complain about the cold start I will direct them to deepest darkest Fife.

First impressions are that it is actually quite a bit quieter than I thought it would be. (Cold start excepted)
Resonated must be very quiet.

That’s said, perhaps I just wasn’t driving it hard enough (old exhaust rattling around in the back)
This is interesting to hear. I probably would have opted for the resonated. From your and Sonic's comments I'm now more tempted by the non-res.

I have an i30n too, original intention was to sell after getting GR86, but can't bear to let it go. The exhaust note on this makes me want to do something with the GR. Had I sold the i30n, I probably would have gotten used to the exhaust note, but jumping from one to the other makes me think an upgrade is necessary.

Can I ask, did you fit and supply yourself? Or can you recommend a garage? I'm also in central Scotland.

Having driven it for a few more days, I am really convinced I wouldn’t have been happy with anything quieter than this.

I had it fitted by Stainless Creations in Falkirk while I waited, circa 1hr 15mins.
They also supplied it (at discount) so I didn’t have to worry about transporting it to them. I’d have fitted it myself if I had a ramp, though.

Thanks for the info, great to hear such positive reviews. Got myself some thinking to do 🤔

Took the wife for a sunny lunch next the sea in the GR86 ☀️.
Provided instructions to be careful when entering and to ensure feet are carefully manoeuvred to avoid scuffing doors, sills etc,. Got short shrift in return and “it’s not the first time I’ve been in a low car you know!”
She gets in and proceeds to boot f**k out of the door card 🤬. FML.
Took some time this afternoon to fit some 3M tape in likely impact areas. Not exactly pretty, but functional…
