From memory I think it was the front up on stands, then the rear just lifted with a trolley jackFitted the spacers, still waiting for the flaps to ship but yeah, it does look right with the arches more filled in.
First time I've done anything like that before, so actually fairly pleased with myself... torqued up everything to spec, and the wheels haven't fallen off yet so I think I've done alright.
Front jacking point is an utter arsehole to get to... had to put one wheel up on a bit of wood which gave me just enough room to get under the front point from the side. To be honest, an arsehole is actually a lot easier to get to than that jacking point.
I think when the flaps come, I'll pop all the wheels off again and do a double double check.
Out of interest, with rotating tires... how do people do that at home.... some of the jack stands I've seen say not to use two pairs together, but if you're doing the recommended rotation, it looks like you have to have both axles up in the air at the same time?
I had one side up at a time, and it's a bit more of a faff.Fitted the spacers, still waiting for the flaps to ship but yeah, it does look right with the arches more filled in.

See what's what I don't get though the rotation in the manual was suggesting back right became front left etc
You evens them out by going fast on slip roadswhen you think it if it roundabouts are right handers....
Is the wear rate on a 4wd equal for all tyres? If so why rotate?Unless you're driving in Sport mode regularly I don't see the need to rotate tyres at all, and even then it would only require swapping front and rears
I guess that would depend on the driving mode used the most. Hence the reason why I stated if Sport mode was used mainly as due to an 80/20 percent split, the rears are going to wear more quickly. Is the wear rate on a 4wd equal for all tyres? If so why rotate?
I used to on my FWD gti's but not sure about the GRY
I mean the bottle of champagne is an old bottle of Krug so I think I’m in the runningMaybe we need a ‘Most extravagant/superfluous use of the space next to the battery’ thread?
I mean, I understand the practice heh, but I was more working out how you do it without some kind of lift... because if you've put the front on stands, and aren't supposed to use four, how do you do both axles at the same time (without really trusting your trolley jack)when you think it if it roundabouts are right handers....so the left side takes a bit more "wear"....hence the front to back and side to side rotation...good practice and works a treat evening out tyre wear
