GR Yaris What did you do to your GR Yaris today?

Lost a front mudflap.

Before I order a new front set of Rallyflapz, is there any alternative that has longer front flaps?

Fitted the spacers, still waiting for the flaps to ship but yeah, it does look right with the arches more filled in.

First time I've done anything like that before, so actually fairly pleased with myself... torqued up everything to spec, and the wheels haven't fallen off yet so I think I've done alright.

Front jacking point is an utter arsehole to get to... had to put one wheel up on a bit of wood which gave me just enough room to get under the front point from the side. To be honest, an arsehole is actually a lot easier to get to than that jacking point.

I think when the flaps come, I'll pop all the wheels off again and do a double double check.

Out of interest, with rotating tires... how do people do that at home.... some of the jack stands I've seen say not to use two pairs together, but if you're doing the recommended rotation, it looks like you have to have both axles up in the air at the same time?

From memory I think it was the front up on stands, then the rear just lifted with a trolley jack
I bought some plastic ramps to drive onto , makes it easier to get a jack under the front

I had one side up at a time, and it's a bit more of a faff.

Just installed the rear seat delete from Jcclubsport😁

Unless you're driving in Sport mode regularly I don't see the need to rotate tyres at all, and even then it would only require swapping front and rears.

See what's what I don't get though the rotation in the manual was suggesting back right became front left etc

when you think it if it roundabouts are right handers....so the left side takes a bit more "wear"....hence the front to back and side to side rotation...good practice and works a treat evening out tyre wear

Is the wear rate on a 4wd equal for all tyres? If so why rotate?

I used to on my FWD gti's but not sure about the GRY

I guess that would depend on the driving mode used the most. Hence the reason why I stated if Sport mode was used mainly as due to an 80/20 percent split, the rears are going to wear more quickly.

Figured out you can store 3 packs of mr Kipling slices and 2 tubs of flapjacks next to the battery.

I then chased a Lamborghini a bit too close and as it tore up the tarmac took a big stone that no type of PPF would ever have saved me from! But hey it’s a car and I’m having fun.

And then on the way home I got airborne on a train bridge which was a lot steeper than I anticipated 😁

And the cake hole was used to store some booze I won in a raffle.

It’s worth rotating them every now and again so they wear in the opposite direction otherwise you can get sawtooth wear, which GTI’s suffer from for example

I mean, I understand the practice heh, but I was more working out how you do it without some kind of lift... because if you've put the front on stands, and aren't supposed to use four, how do you do both axles at the same time (without really trusting your trolley jack)

I swapped the rears over with the back jacked up, and then did each side at a time and swapped the fronts and backs (that had aleady swapped sides). Meant two jacks on one side, but seemed secure enough for a wheel change, as I wasn't getting under the car at all.

As for the wear, I think I posted elsewhere that my fronts and rears still had good tread on them after 12K miles, but the garage did say that there was some wear on inside shoudler of the fronts. So if that's happening (at least on mine), it makes sense to rotate the fronts and backs, and seemed to be sensible to follow the manual's guide as to swap the sides for the backs when you do the rotation.
