GR Yaris What did you do to your GR Yaris today?

Took it for a track day.

I usually fit the standard tow hook for the track, but my gosh it looks ugly without the cover fitted. I masked and painted the tow hook, and cut a hole (drill then dremel) in a spare cover to fit over the hook. I think it came up pretty well.

It's so satisfying rocking up to the track with track wheels/tyres stuffed in the boot (and trolley jack)! Very handy space.

Since the above post I took mine to Caffeine and Machine. It was sadly a bit dead due to the weather (or perhaps as there’s more venues now) but the coffee was good today at least.

Car received some cosmetic surgery on the way there courtesy of a suicidal pheasant, but better that than the Muntjac deer that thankfully did a U turn a few miles later. I’m not going to bother fixing it this time as it’s so flimsy.

And here is a video of my best lap from the track day.

Car details are in the description.

20 k maintenance today, Oils, Fluids, Filters, Brake fluid, and all the checks, brakes are luckily still good after reading horror stories of some barely lasting 20 k, only lost about a millimeter of the brake disc and pads are also good. Tech noticed that rear diff oil is quite black and a little low, so we will be changing that as well.

was very dirty and frozen all over, gave it a wash before handing it over to the tech for a more pleasant maintenance

Exhaust from Ulter is awaited today !

My non resonated Ragazzon exhaust with "group n" tips has been ordered and paid for from Italy with a little help from @Armijs. Wife and Neighbours bound not to be happy after this impulsive buy but life is short.

Edit: I have a neighbour with a GR Yaris on same road who is running an Akrapovič. Will be interesting to see which one of us is louder.

So this is the end to an era for me. I had my GR Yaris since December 2020. I never had a car for that long. I used to switch cars regularly but the Yaris cured me from it. Quite a few cars I looked at over the years failed to measure up to it. Often to my own surprise even. This little hatchback truly is a giant killer. But the time has come where I and the Yaris have to part ways. It was not an easy decision for me but I had the chance to fulfill myself a bit of a dream and I decided to go for it. Im normally a pretty rational and frugal person but you got to live a little too. You never know what the future will bring after all.

So I hope the Yaris will give the next owner as much joy as it gave me over the years. Farewell, friend 🫡

But you aren't getting rid of me yet. Im still loyal to Toyota and Gazoo Racing . There simply isn't another brand that I feel this much affection for and Im looking forward to the next projects they are cooking up. In the meantime though here is my new car.
