GR Yaris What did you do to your GR Yaris today?

I installed a Power flex yellow torque mount insert. Happy with the result.

I also installed inflatable lumbar support in both front seats. I found this one very cheap on Amazon. The pumps tuck away neatly just behind the seatbelt receptacles.

Oh and add to the Phil Price stuff, one of the instructors was very complimentary about them... One of the other people there had one too, and we just had a little chat about them, he actually wasn't aware I owned one at the time of the comment, heh

I went to see a facelift GRY today. Local dealer phoned to say they’ve got an allocation including a demonstrator. Front end isn’t as bad as I thought but I’m still not sold on the looks. Same with the coloured rear spoiler, just looks wrong with a black roof imo.

Interior plastics seem cheaper, not a fan of the digital dash and the vents

The seating position is considerably better! So much more comfortable and I could adjust the steering wheel to the right distance (maybe due to the lower seating position). Visibility is also much better with the new dash design.

Such a shame they didn’t add the IC spray and seating position first time around. A nice car, if I didn’t have a GRY I’d get one. But not worth the increased I’d have to pay to upgrade.

That interior pic really nails it home how terrible that interior is, I still can't understand who thought this was a good design. I understand ergonomics but in this day an age you could still make it look better than that shit show.

The one thing that was holding me back from buying a gen1 was the terrible outdated boring same as normal yaris dashboard design.

To each their own

I dislike both interiors but I am watching the road a whole lot more anyway and no longer have a wife or girlfriend who might nag about it.
We all have to remember what the Gen 1 was built for , WRC. Petrol Ped nailed what the GRY was all about " forget about where Toyota didn't spend their money (interior) and think about where they spent it" (handling and performance).
Thanks to Petrol Ped for their review of the Gen 1. I was looking to buy a JCW until I saw the review. I'm now a proud owner of this remarkable GRY and every time I drive it, it makes me smile. As this is my daily I'm smiling all the time.

When I'm strapped into my harness I can't reach all the dash buttons in my MK1. The MK2 dash fixes that.

Is is attractive? No, not in my opinion. But nor was the MK1 dash.

I always welcome function over form in this car.

My gripe about the (bandwagon fueled) restricted view is that the cars I can see in front, are driving too slow.
As for the interior quality... my 'daily' has leather everything...including the headlining, when I'm in the GRY the lack of leather and plenty of plastic is the last thing on my mind!
The GR Yaris is what it is, mk1 or mk2, they are just brilliant! Let's not have mk1-mk2 war!!!

No, neither are really good. Mazda 2 is better.

Only the "old" ones understand that.😄

I could probably live with the new internals if the dash was analogue although I still think the vents are too high but maybe I’d get used to it. You do not buy this car for the infotainment I just think it’s a downgrade which is odd. It’s not a bad car at all and I’m sure it’s faster and I’d have better head room for my helmet on track for example. Facelift car is still a fantastic car and one of the best on sale, just not worth the price differential for me. Especially as I have some other cars I want to get before the ICE ban ruins driving forever so will be saving my money for them.
